What should I record before changing anything?
Capture the complete error and the circumstances around it before uninstalling or deleting files. That information determines which repair branch is appropriate and gives a vendor enough detail to supply the correct package.

Perform a clean reinstall when repair is unavailable
- Back up project files, templates, custom post-processors, license files, and settings that the vendor says are safe to preserve.

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:C:RepairSourceWindows /LimitAccessReplace C:RepairSourceWindows with the path to a valid matching source. An arbitrary folder or an image from a different release can produce another servicing error, so obtain the source according to Microsoft’s supported media guidance.
Run System File Checker second
sfc /scannowSFC checks protected Windows files and can replace corrupted files with a cached copy. Microsoft describes the command this way: “The sfc /scannow command will scan all protected system files and replace corrupted files with a cached copy.” Keep the Command Prompt window open until verification reaches 100 percent.
Read the final result. A message that no integrity violations were found means SFC did not detect corruption in protected Windows files; it does not prove that an application-owned cls.dll is present or compatible. If SFC repaired files, restart Windows and retest the affected application. If SFC says it could not repair some files, save the result and follow Microsoft’s documented component-repair escalation rather than downloading individual DLLs.
Can Visual C++ Redistributable repair fix cls.dll?

- If the runtime installer fails, retain its logs and the exact error code for the application vendor or Microsoft support.
Do not remove unrelated runtime packages merely to test this theory. Several applications can depend on different runtime generations, and deleting one can create additional launch failures.
