Run the downloaded installer as follows:
- Open File Explorer and locate the Canon installer.
- Right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Follow the setup prompts.
- Connect the printer only when the installer requests it.

Fix 2: Check whether antivirus quarantined the file
Security software may remove a legitimate driver component, particularly after a partial installation. Do not immediately restore the file.
In Windows Security:
- Open Start and search for Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Review detections related to the Canon installer or printer software.
- Open the detection and inspect its file path and source.

Fix 4: Check Windows Features only when printing itself is broken
Windows Features will not normally restore a missing Canon DLL, but a disabled printing component can create separate printer failures.
- Press Windows + R.
- Enter
optionalfeatures.exe. - Press Enter.
- Expand Print and Document Services.
- Confirm that the printing features required by your Windows installation are enabled.
- Select OK and restart Windows if prompted.
Do not enable unrelated features simply because the Canon error mentions a DLL. If Canon’s installer is the only program reporting the problem, reinstall the Canon package instead.
Fix 5: Repair broader Windows component corruption

Wait for it to finish. Then run:
sfc /scannow
Restart Windows after both commands complete.
If SFC says it found and repaired corrupt files, test the Canon software again. If the Canon error remains, reinstall the Canon driver because SFC is not expected to restore a normal third-party printer package.

- Press Windows + R.
- Enter
rstrui.exe. - Press Enter.
- Select a restore point dated before the error began.

- Review the programs and drivers that will be changed.
- Confirm the restore and restart Windows.
Afterward, install the correct Canon package rather than restoring an old standalone DLL.

Why regsvr32 usually does not help
Do not run this as a routine fix:
regsvr32 cnb_0331.dll
regsvr32 is intended for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer, commonly COM or ActiveX components. There is no reliable evidence that cnb_0331.dll is a self-registering COM DLL.

- Do not download
cnb_0331.dllfrom a DLL repository or file-sharing page. - Do not copy a replacement into
