Step 1: Identify the affected Canon installation
Before changing files, record which printer and driver are involved.
- Open Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.

Also check which application names the DLL in the error. If the application is not Canon software or a Windows print component, investigate that application separately rather than forcing a printer DLL into its folder.

Step 2: Reinstall the complete Canon driver
This is the most likely solution.
- Identify the exact printer model from the printer label or Printers & scanners.
- Open the Canon Support website in a browser.
- Search for the exact model, not merely “Canon printer.”
- Select your installed Windows release and the correct architecture when Canon presents those choices.
- Download the current driver or MP Driver package supplied for that model.
- If the existing installation is badly damaged, return to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select the old Canon printer and choose Remove.
- Open Device Manager, right-click the related Canon entry, and choose Uninstall device if the entry is clearly obsolete or damaged.
- Restart Windows.
- Run the Canon installer as administrator.
- Follow its instructions for connecting or reconnecting the printer.
- Restart again if requested.
- Print a test page from Printers & scanners.
If the test page prints and opening printer properties no longer produces the error, the driver package has been repaired. Do not copy an individual DLL into a system folder after this process.
If the installer reports that a newer driver already exists, remove stale Canon printer instances first and restart. Multiple generations of a printer driver can coexist, and the application may still be calling an obsolete package.

- Open Advanced options > Optional updates > Driver updates, if that section is available.
- Install a printer-related driver update.
- Restart Windows.
- If the printer is absent, open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select Add device.
- Follow the discovery and installation prompts.
- Print a test page.
Microsoft recommends Windows Update or the printer manufacturer’s official website for printer drivers. Use Canon’s model-specific package when Windows Update lacks the required driver or advanced features.
On a Windows 11 ARM device, a traditional manufacturer installer may not work. Use Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners > Add device unless Canon provides specific ARM instructions for the model.

Step 4: Check antivirus quarantine
A security product may have quarantined a Canon file after an update or repair.
- Open Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Protection history.
- Look for an entry involving
cnbjop8b.dllor the Canon driver package. - Do not restore it solely because the filename matches.
- Confirm the original path, publisher, digital signature, and source package.
- If the file is verified as part of the Canon installer, restore or allow it only according to your security policy.

Step 5: Repair Windows components when broader problems exist
DISM and SFC are useful when several Windows components are malfunctioning, Windows Update is damaged, or other protected files also report errors. They are not the primary repair for a missing Canon-only DLL.
- Right-click Start.
- Select Terminal (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).
- Run:

- Restart Windows.
- Test the printer again.
Microsoft recommends running DISM before SFC. If SFC reports that it repaired protected system files, retest the original problem. If both commands complete without fixing the Canon error, reinstall the Canon driver rather than repeatedly running them.

- Open Settings > Windows Update > Update history.
- Review recent driver and quality updates.
- Install any pending updates first if Microsoft or Canon has supplied a corrected package.
- If the issue began after a driver change, open Device Manager.
- Expand Printers or Print queues.
- Open the Canon device’s Properties.
- On the Driver tab, choose Roll Back Driver if Windows makes that option available.
- Restart and test.
If the problem remains and a suitable restore point exists, use System Restore. It can roll back system settings, drivers, and applications without normally changing personal files. It will not fix a physically failing printer or guarantee restoration of a third-party DLL.

regsvr32 registers DLLs that expose the required registration entry points. It is not a general-purpose repair command.
There is no verified evidence that cnbjop8b.dll should be manually registered. Running commands such as these can create a second error without restoring the driver:
regsvr32 cnbjop8b.dll
regsvr32 C:WindowsSystem32cnbjop8b.dll
Use the Canon installer instead. If an installer specifically requests an INF-based installation, follow Canon’s documented INF procedure and use the files from that original package.
Why random DLL downloads are unsafe
Standalone DLL downloads can contain malware, the wrong architecture, an incompatible build, or a file modified outside the original driver package. Even a clean replacement may fail because the missing dependency, service, registry configuration, or driver-store entry remains damaged.
Do not:
- Copy an arbitrary file into
System32,SysWOW64, or an application folder. - Use a registry cleaner.
- Install Visual C++ merely because a DLL is missing.
- Restore a quarantined file without verifying it.
- Replace a 32-bit driver component with a 64-bit file because Windows is 64-bit.
The safe sources are Windows Update and Canon’s official support page for the exact printer model.

If the printer was retired
If the error appears only during startup and the printer is no longer used:

- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners.
- Remove the retired Canon printer.
- Uninstall Canon printer software from Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Restart Windows.
- Check Task Manager > Startup apps for an obsolete Canon helper and disable it if necessary.
If the error disappears, the startup entry was calling an old driver component. There is no reason to restore the DLL for hardware that is no longer installed.

Is cnbjop8b.dll a Windows file?

No. Install or repair the complete Canon driver package. The correct location may be a driver-store subdirectory, and the component may be 32-bit even on 64-bit Windows.
Why does “specified module could not be found” appear when the file exists?
A dependency of cnbjop8b.dll may be missing, or the driver registration may be damaged. Reinstalling the full Canon package addresses more of the dependency chain than copying the visible DLL.
What if every repair fails?
