If Commandos: Origins is “lagging” in multiplayer on PC, first identify which kind of lag you mean: low or uneven frame rate on your own screen, or a delay between the two players’ actions. Kalypso documents a DirectX 12 setting change for frame-rate drops when viewcones are active; its patch notes do not establish that this fixes online co-op delay for everyone.
First, identify what “lag” looks like
The game supports two-player co-op online and through local split-screen. In online co-op, distinguish a rendering problem on your PC from a delay in the shared game state: they can feel similar, but the documented troubleshooting is different. Kalypso’s product page describes online and local co-op, and Steam’s listing also identifies online, LAN, and shared/split-screen co-op.

- Low or uneven FPS: the picture stutters or feels slow on your own display, particularly when viewcones appear or are activated.
- Player-to-player delay: the frame rate looks stable, but an action by one co-op player takes time to appear or respond for the other.
Use those symptoms separately as you troubleshoot. A graphics setting may affect local rendering; it is not, by itself, evidence of a network-latency fix.
For FPS drops when viewcones are active, try DirectX 12
Kalypso Media’s Update 1.7 notes say: “Players experiencing performance drops when activating viewcones (especially on AMD GPUs) can now switch to DirectX 12 to improve framerate.” The note specifically concerns frame rate and calls out AMD GPUs; it does not say the option is exclusive to AMD.

- Open the game’s Video Settings and find Graphics API.
- Switch the graphics API to DirectX 12. Restart the game if it asks you to.
- Revisit the same mission and scene, with viewcones active, and compare whether the frame rate is steadier.
This is a targeted check for the viewcone-related FPS symptom, not a universal “lag fixed” setting. Kalypso’s Update 1.7 notes do not claim it resolves delays between online players.
Check whether the PC meets the published requirements
Kalypso’s published specifications can help you assess local rendering headroom. The publisher characterizes minimum hardware as targeting low settings at Full HD with average performance, and recommended hardware as targeting medium settings at Full HD with average performance. These are performance tiers, not a diagnosis of online delay.
| Requirement | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit |
| Processor | Intel i5-4690K or AMD Ryzen 7 2700 | Intel i7-9700 or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon RX 580 | GeForce RTX 3060 or Radeon RX 6600 XT |
| DirectX | Version 11 | Version 11 |
| Storage | 31 GB | 31 GB |
Kalypso recommends an SSD on its product page, but does not connect that recommendation to multiplayer lag. Likewise, a PC below the published graphics tier may be relevant to low FPS, but CPU, memory, and GPU specifications do not explain a delay between players on their own.

- So what makes GMT’s Commands & Colors: Samurai Battles game Great? In a word, More! GMT’s C&C: Samurai Battles game has more scenarios, more units to deploy, additional types of Japanese units, a jammed-packed battlefield with more units and more terrain.
- The Command cards drive movement and creates a “fog of war” and presents players with many interesting challenges and opportunities, while the battle dice resolve combat quickly and efficiently.
- The Honor & Fortune game mechanic will task players to maintain a balance between these two important game elements.
- The battlefield tactics you will need to execute to gain victory, however, conform remarkably well to the strengths and limitations of the various Japanese unit types, their weapons, battle terrain, and written history.

If the frame rate is stable but online actions are delayed
Do not treat the DirectX 12 option as a proven remedy for this symptom. The official material cited here does not provide a network-specific fix, latency threshold, or verified universal solution for online co-op delay.

Before contacting support, write down observations that can help distinguish when the delay occurs:
- Which player is hosting, and which player is joining?
- Which PC storefronts or platforms are involved?
- When does the delay start, and is it constant or intermittent?
- Does the same kind of delay occur in local split-screen, or only online?
- Does the problem follow a particular mission, map, action, or save?
These details are useful to report, not publisher-certified fixes. Local split-screen can help you describe whether the symptom appears only in online play, but it does not establish the cause.

What earlier patches did—and did not—fix
Kalypso’s Update 1.1 notes record specific performance fixes: a pine-tree-related performance impact and a large FPS drop in the mission-accomplished cutscene for Operation Cleaver. The PC update also added an FPS Limit setting, defaulting to 60 FPS. Those entries document particular issues addressed at that time; they do not guarantee that every current frame-rate problem is resolved.
Update 1.1 also fixed several multiplayer problems affecting the joining player: pistol use, picking up a body after saving while carrying it, lights, and Zodiac movement. Update 1.3 listed a host crash during multiplayer and two joining-player crashes triggered by specific actions. These historical notes show that particular multiplayer bugs were addressed, but they do not describe a blanket fix for online lag. See Kalypso’s Update 1.1 and Update 1.3 notes.

Send a useful report for persistent performance problems
In a Steam discussion about reported FPS drops and lag spikes, a Kalypso developer asked the player to provide a DxDiag.txt and say whether the issue appeared on particular maps, during specific actions, across all missions, or with a specific savegame. The developer described this Windows procedure:
- Open Windows Run.
- Enter
dxdiag. - Choose the option to save all information as a text file.
- Attach the resulting DxDiag.txt to a support message, along with the map, action, mission-wide pattern, and save-specific details.
This is guidance from a developer response in a discussion thread, not a promise that support will diagnose or resolve every report. The response is available in the Commandos: Origins Steam discussions.
