Concord is no longer playable: Sony took the online shooter offline beginning September 6, 2024, then announced on October 29, 2024 that it was permanently sunsetting the game and closing developer Firewalk Studios. Sales stopped and Sony offered full refunds to purchasers at the time.
When did Concord go offline?
On September 3, 2024, Firewalk Studios game director Ryan Ellis announced that sales would stop immediately and Concord would go offline beginning September 6. The game became inaccessible through its servers on that date, according to contemporaneous reporting. This was the operational shutdown; Sony later made the cancellation permanent.

Ellis said that although some qualities of the experience resonated with players, other aspects of the game and its initial launch “didn’t land the way we’d intended.” Sony’s September 3 announcement also set out refunds for purchasers.
Why did Sony shut Concord down?
Sony’s October 29, 2024 statement said that parts of the game had not reached enough players and that the title had not met the company’s targets. Hermen Hulst, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Studio Business Group, described the PvP first-person-shooter genre as continuously evolving and competitive. Sony said it would apply lessons from Concord to its live-service work.

Those are Sony’s stated reasons, not proof that one specific design choice, marketing decision, price, or audience factor alone caused the game’s outcome. Sony’s official statements do not disclose a Concord-specific sales total, launch player count, or development budget.
What happened to Firewalk Studios?
On October 29, 2024, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced both that Concord would be permanently sunset and that Firewalk Studios would close. This was the final disposition, not a temporary pause while the company considered whether to relaunch the game. Sony’s corporate update reported the decision and its explanation.

Did Sony refund Concord players?
Yes. Sony’s September 2024 notice offered full refunds to purchasers on PS5 and PC. For purchases through PlayStation Store or PlayStation Direct, refunds were to go to the original payment method, or to a PSN wallet if that payment source was unavailable. Steam and Epic purchases were handled through those storefronts; physical-copy buyers were directed to the retailer where they bought the game. The notice said access would end after a refund was issued and that PlayStation Store and PlayStation Direct refunds might take 30–60 days to appear on a bank statement.
These were instructions in the 2024 shutdown notice; they do not establish that the refund process remains open today. Buyers with questions about an old transaction should contact the relevant storefront or retailer.

How many copies of Concord sold?
Sony’s official announcements do not give a Concord-specific sales total. A shutdown-day report by Push Square estimated that 25,000 copies had sold; that is a third-party estimate, not a figure confirmed by Sony or an audited total. Sony separately reported 116 million PlayStation monthly active accounts in June 2024, but that platform-wide figure is not a Concord player count. Push Square’s September 6 report gives the estimate and describes the game’s offline status; Sony’s FY2024 Q1 presentation provides the monthly-account figure.
