Concord went offline on September 6, 2024, two weeks after its August 23 launch. Sony and Firewalk stopped sales on September 3 and offered full refunds to PS5 and PC purchasers. The refund route depended on where the game was bought; refunded players lost access.
When did Concord shut down?
Concord launched on PlayStation 5 and PC on August 23, 2024. On September 3, Firewalk announced that sales would stop immediately and the game would go offline beginning September 6—exactly two weeks after launch. The announcement came three days before the scheduled shutdown.

On October 29, Sony announced that Concord would be permanently sunset and that Firewalk Studios would close. That later announcement made clear the shutdown was not a temporary pause leading to a relaunch.
Why did Sony shut down Concord?
Firewalk game director Ryan Ellis said that parts of the experience resonated with players, but other aspects and the initial launch “didn’t land the way we’d intended.” In the October statement, Sony’s Hermen Hulst said some aspects were exceptional, but the game did not reach enough players and Sony had not met its targets in a competitive, evolving PvP first-person shooter market. Those are Sony’s stated reasons, rather than a complete independently established explanation of the game’s performance.

Before launch, Firewalk had described a live-service roadmap with additional characters, maps, modes, stories, and seasonal updates. The shutdown cut that planned ongoing-service future short; the roadmap was not evidence that all those additions had shipped.
Sony’s cited announcements did not publish a verified sales total, refund count, or player-count figure. Claims about a specific total should not be treated as Sony-confirmed based on those statements.

How Concord refunds worked
The September 3 announcement promised full refunds to everyone who purchased Concord for PS5 or PC. The process depended on the purchase channel:

The official PlayStation Concord refund support page explains the channels, but it does not show an individual buyer’s refund status. For a missing or delayed refund, contact the platform or retailer that processed the purchase. PlayStation’s 30–60-day estimate applied to the time for its refund to appear on a bank statement, not a guarantee that every case would follow the same schedule.

Can you still play Concord?
No. Concord is offline, and Sony later confirmed its permanent sunset. A physical disc cannot restore online access. Players who received a refund lost access to the game.

Firewalk’s August 13, 2024 launch preview described future characters, maps, modes, stories, and seasonal updates. The September shutdown announcement superseded that plan: Concord went offline before the proposed ongoing service could continue. Sony’s October 29 permanent-sunset notice confirmed there would be no continuation of the game.
