Note where and when the crash happens before trying installation or save checks. There is no single cause that can be diagnosed from the game title alone.
Team17 documented several CONSCRIPT crash bugs in a September 2024 PlayStation update, but that history does not prove the same bug is still present or identify the cause of a current crash. The latest PS4 patch number has not been established; check for an update before troubleshooting further.

Does CONSCRIPT have a PS4 crash bug?
Yes. CONSCRIPT launched on PS4 on 23 July 2024, and Team17’s 5 September 2024 console balance update, available to PlayStation players, listed fixes for several specific crash scenarios. These are historical bug reports and fixes—not a diagnosis of a current crash or confirmation of the latest PS4 build. Team17 has not established here whether later crash reports remain open.

- A possible fix for an ending crash reported a few times across platforms.
See Team17’s console balance update for the historical notes. If your crash matches one of these situations, record the exact game version and report the repeatable steps rather than assuming the old issue is still unfixed.

How do I stop CONSCRIPT from crashing on PS4?
Try these fixes in order, beginning with reversible checks. They are general PS4 troubleshooting steps unless noted as a CONSCRIPT-specific historical fix; none is guaranteed to resolve every crash.

Update CONSCRIPT
On the PS4 home screen, highlight CONSCRIPT, press the Options button, then choose Check for Update. Team17’s patch notes confirm that at least some historical game crashes were addressed in an update. If no update is offered, the console is not necessarily running a particular version number; the latest PS4 build has not been established here.

Update PS4 system software
Open Settings and check for a system software update. PlayStation and publisher support guidance recommends keeping the console software current. Follow the on-screen instructions if an update is available.

Fully restart the PS4
Shut the console down completely, wait briefly, then turn it back on and retry the game. A full restart is a general troubleshooting recommendation, not a confirmed CONSCRIPT-specific fix.

Check for a repeatable trigger
Write down the chapter, room, action, inventory state, and any error code. Note whether the crash happens at launch, during the same action, or at the same location. Compare the circumstances with the historical triggers above and include the game version if you contact Team17.

Check the game copy and installation
For a disc: inspect it for visible dirt or damage, clean it gently, and check for an update. For a digital copy: confirm that the download and installation have completed, then check for an update. PlayStation’s game freeze and crash troubleshooting distinguishes disc and download checks.

Test whether the save might be involved
If practical, start a fresh game without deleting your existing save and see whether the crash occurs there too. If the fresh start works, that can help isolate a possible save-related issue; it does not prove the old save is corrupt. Back up saved data before handling it. PlayStation includes a fresh-start check in its troubleshooting guidance.

Restore licenses for inconsistent digital access
If a digital game or its content behaves inconsistently, restoring licenses is one general PS4 troubleshooting option. It is not a documented CONSCRIPT-specific crash fix. Ubisoft lists the step in its PS4 game performance guidance.

Rebuild the database or reinstall the game
If the earlier checks do not help, rebuilding the PS4 database in Safe Mode or reinstalling the game are later-stage general measures listed by Ubisoft and Square Enix. Reinstalling may require downloading updates and content again. Do not delete saved data as part of removing the game unless you intend to do so and have protected anything you want to keep.

Contact support before considering initialization
If only CONSCRIPT crashes, contact Team17 and provide the steps to reproduce it, the error code, game version, and a screenshot or video if possible. PlayStation advises contacting the game publisher when just one game is affected. If multiple games crash, contact PlayStation support. Initialize the PS4 or reinstall system software only as a last resort: initialization erases console-stored data, so back up first. Will reinstalling CONSCRIPT delete my save?
The troubleshooting guidance cited here does not establish that uninstalling CONSCRIPT deletes its saved data in every situation. Avoid deleting saved data when removing the game, and back up your save before making changes. If you are unsure which item you are removing, stop and check the PS4’s saved-data options first.
