Corsair’s Sim Racing Cockpit: What the 2024 Prototype Promised

Corsair’s 2024 sim racing cockpit was a customizable prototype. Its later guide outlined frame, fit and monitor options, while a similar Fanatec cockpit was announced separately in 2025.

Corsair’s June 2024 sim racing cockpit was a prototype, not a fully specified retail product: its headline feature was a seat and driving position that could shift between semi-reclined Formula-style and upright GT-style setups. A later Corsair guide outlined frame, fit and monitor options, but the available sources do not establish a final price or package. The Fanatec ClubSport GT Cockpit announced in January 2025 is a separate product unless Corsair or Fanatec confirms otherwise.

What Corsair announced at Computex

On June 4, 2024, Corsair said it had showcased a prototype modular sim racing cockpit at Computex. The concept used a steel frame and an adjustable driving position, moving from a semi-reclined open-wheel posture intended for Formula racing to a more upright GT-style posture suited to touring and street-car simulation. Corsair’s announcement said the cockpit would arrive later in 2024, but did not provide a retail price or complete final specifications.

Corsair also described the frame as stable and designed to reduce flex. Those are manufacturer claims, not results from independent testing. The announcement established the product as a prototype on show, not a finished product with a confirmed retail configuration.

How the Corsair concept was meant to adjust

The central idea was to adapt one cockpit to two common sim-racing seating styles. Formula-style driving generally calls for a more reclined posture; GT-style driving is more upright. Corsair presented the ability to move between those positions as a defining feature of its hybrid frame.

What the separate Fanatec ClubSport GT Cockpit adds to the timeline

On January 8, 2025, Fanatec announced the ClubSport GT Cockpit and said it would be available from the Fanatec webstore in January 2025. Its description shares several broad traits with the Corsair concept, including a 50 mm steel frame, a 290 mm seat mounting pattern, an onboard VESA monitor mount and a driving position spanning upright road-car and semi-reclined Formula-style seating. But Fanatec’s announcement does not identify it as the same product as Corsair’s 2024 prototype. The shared attributes are not proof of product identity or continuity.

These specifications apply only to the Fanatec-named cockpit. They should not be assigned to the earlier Corsair prototype.

What to check before treating either cockpit as a buying option

The Corsair prototype announcement and concept guide do not establish a final, purchasable Corsair product configuration. For the Fanatec cockpit, the January 2025 release is a dated announcement rather than confirmation of current regional stock, pricing or bundle contents. Check the relevant product listing for your region before making a buying decision, and verify whether the seat, monitor stand and other mounts are part of the exact configuration you are considering.

On August 5, 2026, Corsair announced that it had acquired Trak Racer assets, describing a portfolio that includes sim racing and flight-simulation cockpits, seats, monitor stands, motion systems and accessories. This adds context to Corsair’s broader sim-racing portfolio; it does not establish that Trak Racer’s products are the 2024 Corsair prototype. Corsair’s acquisition announcement describes the portfolio but does not resolve the prototype’s retail status.
