Cragblade is both an Ash of War and the weapon skill it grants in Elden Ring. It reinforces a compatible melee weapon with rocks, increasing its attack power and helping it break enemy stance. Find the Ash of War in Caelid, or use it to build around stronger hits and pressure against guarding enemies.
What Cragblade does
Using the skill drives the armament into the ground and draws rocks around it. The resulting weapon buff is intended to improve attack power and make enemy stance easier to break. The skill also has damaging motions as the weapon is buried and pulled back up, according to the community reference.
Cragblade does not change a weapon’s damage type into a different category; it reinforces the weapon. The community reference describes its buff as adding physical attack power, rather than converting the armament to another damage type. The exact numerical effect is version-sensitive.
Where to find the Ash of War
The community reference places the guaranteed Ash of War drop on a Teardrop Scarab in Caelid. Look on a hill near the Sword Monument, west of the Impassable Greatbridge Site of Grace. The location is community-sourced, not specified in the official patch notes.

After obtaining it, the Ash can be duplicated by giving Lost Ashes of War to Smithing Master Hewg, according to the same reference.
Compatible weapons and affinities
The Ash applies to infusable melee armaments, with some weapon exclusions. Heavy and Standard affinities are available by default; access to other affinity choices depends on the whetblades you have acquired. Check the weapon’s Ash of War menu to confirm compatibility and available affinities rather than relying on an exhaustive list that may not match your game version.

Effect values and the 1.07 patch
Bandai Namco’s official ELDEN RING Patch Notes 1.07, published October 13, 2022, say Cragblade’s effect duration was extended and its attack power, poise damage, and stamina attack power against guarding enemies were increased. The note provides no resulting numerical values, so it documents the direction of that historical change—not the latest live values.

The community reference lists a 60-second buff, 15% added physical attack power, 10% added stance or poise damage, and 50% added stamina damage against guarding enemies. Those figures are not stated in Bandai Namco’s cited patch notes; treat them as community-reported values, not guaranteed current values across game versions or modes. The reference also says the weapon buff does not stack with other weapon buffs, a detail worth checking against the version you play.

Cragblade is a practical choice when you want a compatible weapon to hit harder and contribute more to stance breaks. Its reported stamina pressure against guarding enemies may also matter if you often attack shielded foes. Consider the trade-offs before committing:
