How Cult of the Lamb co-op works
Unholy Alliance pairs the Lamb with the Goat for two-player local co-op. The Xbox Wire announcement describes the Goat as a dark presence summoned in the update; Nintendo and publisher descriptions also identify the Lamb-and-Goat pairing. The update launched on August 12, 2024. Xbox Wire described it as a free update for existing Xbox owners; that announcement does not establish current pricing on every platform. The campaign is included
This is not limited to a separate mini-game: official Xbox, Nintendo and publisher descriptions say the campaign can be played in co-op. The role pairing remains one player as the Lamb and the other as the Goat. The listings establish campaign scope, but do not specify every activity or encounter’s detailed co-op behavior.

No native online co-op is available, and the developer said it would not add it. In a Steam Community discussion on June 21, 2024, a Massive Monster developer account wrote: “Sorry! We won’t be adding online co-op. Local was already very difficult for us to implement. Essentially, it would require recoding the entire game.” The response explained that online multiplayer would require structuring the game differently. Can you play remotely with Steam Remote Play?
Steam Remote Play is a way to stream a local Steam session to another person; it is not built-in online multiplayer. It may let Steam players share a local co-op session remotely, but the studio’s statement about not adding online co-op still applies. The cited developer discussion does not confirm performance, setup details or availability for every player’s network and device.
Platforms and player count
Official listings cover Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and PS5; Devolver Digital’s page also links to Steam and Apple Arcade. Store support and availability can vary by region and edition, so check the current listing for the platform you intend to use.
