To start Cyberpunk 2077’s new Clampdown quest, install the free Edgerunners 2 Update 2.5, complete The Heist, finish two gigs assigned by Wakako, and then wait for Wakako to message V. The official notes do not name two required gigs, specify a map marker, or promise a 24-hour timer.
Clampdown is a playable prequel to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. During it, V encounters Weak Kingsley—formerly known as King—and can obtain a five-piece King-inspired gear set, including his Coronation revolver and outfit. You do not need Phantom Liberty or the Ultimate Edition, and you do not need to buy anything to make the quest available.

The unlock sequence is short, but every gate matters. Use this order:
- Install Update 2.5. The Edgerunners 2 Update launched on October 22, 2026, for PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. CD PROJEKT RED lists the update as free for owners of the base game. See the official launch notice. Check the version actually installed on your platform; owning a compatible copy is not the same as having downloaded the patch.
- Finish The Heist. This is the main-story requirement identified in the patch notes. You can use a new playthrough or an existing save, and existing saves remain valid after the update. There is no requirement to restart V’s story or begin a new character.
- Complete two Wakako gigs. Both jobs must be assigned by Wakako. The official instructions do not identify particular gig names or require a specific order, so do not substitute gigs from another fixer. The count is two completed jobs, not two jobs merely accepted from a menu.
- Wait for Wakako’s message. Her message is the stated unlock trigger. The notes do not give a universal delay, tell you to visit her first, or guarantee that advancing exactly 24 in-game hours will work. Continue playing normally while the message is pending.
- Follow the new job when it appears. The quest is called Clampdown; its objective leads V into Wakako’s job involving Weak Kingsley and his crew at Night City Prison.
CD PROJEKT RED summarizes the trigger as: “To unlock it, complete The Heist and two gigs for Wakako, then wait for a message from her.” That sentence is the practical checklist. It does not say that HKGN 102.0 FM must be playing, that a particular district must be visited, or that a specific dialogue choice is needed first.

What should I check before looking for the quest marker?
Clampdown does not require a separate marker hunt before the message. First confirm the patch, story progress and fixer identity. If you are switching between several saves, check each save individually: completing The Heist on one character does not establish progress on another character.
Likewise, make sure the two jobs were Wakako’s gigs rather than NCPD activities, missions from another fixer or a quest that happened to take place in West Wind Estate. The official requirement is expressed by fixer and count, not by neighborhood or mission title. Once those conditions are met, the next official instruction is simply to wait for her message.

Nothing in the published instructions says to purchase Phantom Liberty, change V’s build, listen to a radio station, or finish the anime first. Those actions may be part of a player’s normal playthrough, but they are not listed as gates for Clampdown.
Do I need Phantom Liberty or the Ultimate Edition?
No. The base game and Update 2.5 are sufficient. Phantom Liberty and the Ultimate Edition are not listed as requirements for Clampdown, and the update is free to base-game owners. If you already own Cyberpunk 2077 on a supported platform, buying an expansion solely to qualify for the quest adds no stated unlock condition.
The Ultimate Edition can still be a buying option for someone who does not own the game. CD PROJEKT RED says the Nintendo Switch 2 physical edition uses a 64 GB game card containing the base game and Phantom Liberty. That card launched in 2025; it should not be treated as containing the 2026 update, so a newly purchased copy still needs the free 2.5 download. The publisher also announced a physical PS5 box edition in select markets, while US availability is not established in the cited material.
For a new buyer, the choice is therefore about included games and format, not access to Clampdown. A base-game purchase on a supported platform is enough if you only want the quest. An Ultimate Edition bundles Phantom Liberty for players who want that expansion as well. Either way, install the current update after the game is installed.
Which platforms can run Clampdown?
Update 2.5 is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. A PS4 running the PS4 version cannot receive patches released after November 8, 2022, so that version cannot access this quest or the other Edgerunners 2 Update 2.5 content. A PS4 owner would need to play on a supported current-generation version to use Clampdown.
Switch 2 availability changed between prelaunch announcements and the dated release notice. For the current status, rely on CD PROJEKT RED’s October 22, 2026 launch announcement, which includes Nintendo Switch 2.

The platform distinction also matters when comparing physical products. The 64 GB Switch 2 card is a 2025 edition containing the base game and Phantom Liberty; it is not evidence that the card already contains a 2026 patch. A physical PS5 box was announced for select markets, so regional stock and the download required for Update 2.5 should be checked separately. Existing digital or physical owners on supported hardware do not need to replace their copy.
What happens in Clampdown?
Clampdown is a story quest set before the events of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2. The developer describes it as a Wakako job in which V encounters Weak Kingsley, previously known as King, and his crew at Night City Prison. Associate Game Director Paweł Sasko identifies members of that group as King, Meshuga, Miguel and Emily.

Neither order changes the game’s unlock conditions, and the quest does not require you to have a Netflix subscription.
This guide keeps the mission outcome and later story turns out of the explanation. The setting, names and broad connection are enough to identify the content without spoiling what happens at Night City Prison.
How do I get King’s outfit and Coronation revolver?
Play through Clampdown. The official patch notes state that the quest contains a five-piece King-inspired gear set. Xbox Wire’s developer interview also identifies King’s signature Coronation revolver and wearable outfit.
The five-piece description is a reward-set count, not a promise that every item is handed over in the same scene. The available information confirms that the set is obtainable during Clampdown but does not publish an item-by-item route, a guaranteed pickup order, a missable-choice warning or a complete loot guide. If a particular piece does not appear immediately, do not assume that a separate side activity or vendor is required; no such route has been established in the official material.

There is also no stated requirement to finish a particular difficulty, use a particular weapon build or complete an optional objective to qualify for King’s equipment. The reliable instruction is to unlock and play the quest, then follow its in-game objectives and reward notifications.
Why hasn’t Wakako messaged me?
There is no officially documented fixed waiting period or universal repair sequence. Check the requirements in this order before treating the trigger as missing:

- Verify that The Heist is complete on the save you are using.
- Count only gigs assigned by Wakako; jobs from other fixers do not satisfy the stated requirement.
- Make sure two Wakako gigs are fully completed rather than merely accepted or abandoned.
- Continue playing while waiting for the message instead of relying on an advertised timer.
The official notes do not instruct players to visit Wakako, restart the game, skip a particular number of hours, buy an expansion or reinstall. Players have reported both receiving the message after visiting her and meeting the prerequisites without an immediate message, but those are individual reports rather than a guaranteed fix. If the message still does not arrive after the requirements are unquestionably complete, consult the game’s current support channels rather than treating an anecdotal workaround as official guidance.
Avoid resetting your progress just because the notification is not instantaneous. The published trigger is “wait for a message,” not “wait 24 hours,” so a precise countdown cannot be promised. Keep the save that contains your completed gigs, verify the platform version, and allow normal gameplay to continue while you check for the incoming message.
Is HKGN 102.0 FM required to unlock the quest?
No. HKGN 102.0 FM is a new Edgerunners-related radio station added with Update 2.5, but listening to it is not listed as a Clampdown prerequisite. You can hear the station whenever you like; it does not replace the two-Wakako-gig trigger and does not cause the message on a documented schedule.
The station is best treated as optional atmosphere. Turning it on can add Edgerunners-related audio to your free-roam time, but turning it off will not block the job. Is Welcome to Paradise! the same quest?
No. Welcome to Paradise! is a separate Update 2.5 quest. Its stated gates are completion of The Heist and Street Cred 15; it is not unlocked by completing two Wakako gigs. Keep that Street Cred route separate from Clampdown’s Wakako-message route.
Both quests can exist in the same updated game, which makes their similar timing easy to confuse. The practical comparison is simple: Clampdown requires two Wakako gigs and her message, while Welcome to Paradise! uses a Street Cred 15 requirement. Progress toward one should not be presented as progress toward the other.

Cyber: Edgerunners 2 is an official 10-episode standalone series exclusive to Netflix, which premiered on October 20, 2026. Clampdown is an in-game prequel, not an interactive key that unlocks Netflix episodes or a substitute for watching the series.
The game and anime were developed with continuity in mind, including returning performers. You can therefore choose your order based on spoiler preference. Play Clampdown first for introductory context, or watch the series first and then use the quest as a different view of the setting and characters. The anime remains a 10-episode Netflix production either way.
