CD PROJEKT RED released Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 2.21 on January 23, 2025, rolling it out to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The PC update adds DLSS 4 options, but Multi Frame Generation is specifically for GeForce RTX 50 Series; the Transformer model and other listed DLSS updates have broader GeForce RTX support. The patch also fixes Photo Mode, vehicle customization, character creation, console features, and assorted gameplay and UI issues.
What Patch 2.21 adds to DLSS on PC
Patch 2.21 expands the DLSS choices available in Cyberpunk 2077. Its features are not all available on the same GPU generations:
| Feature | GPU compatibility described in the patch | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| DLSS Multi Frame Generation | GeForce RTX 50 Series | Can generate up to three additional frames for each traditionally rendered frame. CD PROJEKT RED said it would be enabled for RTX 50 Series on January 30, 2025. |
| Faster single Frame Generation with reduced memory use | GeForce RTX 40 and RTX 50 Series | Improves single Frame Generation performance and memory use; this is distinct from Multi Frame Generation. |
| DLSS Ray Reconstruction, Super Resolution, and DLAA model selection | GeForce RTX cards | Lets players choose between CNN and Transformer models for the named features. CD PROJEKT RED says the Transformer model improves stability, lighting, and detail in motion. |
CD PROJEKT RED’s Patch 2.21 notes distinguish these capabilities: an RTX 40 card does not gain Multi Frame Generation from this patch, although RTX 40 and RTX 50 cards are included in the faster single Frame Generation statement. The developer’s DLSS 4 support page describes selectable 2x, 3x, or 4x Multi Frame Generation settings on 50 Series cards. It also says players can switch between Transformer and CNN in the game’s Settings.
For the model choice, the support page describes the Transformer model as improving image stability, reducing ghosting, and improving anti-aliasing for Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction. These are developer descriptions, not a guarantee that every scene or system will look or perform identically.

What changed outside DLSS
Photo Mode
The patch addresses a wide set of Photo Mode problems, including spawned-character behavior, presets, V’s saved position and rotation, camera movement and collision, backgrounds, lighting, the rule-of-thirds grid, and interface controls. Nibbles and Adam Smasher can now be spawned while V is airborne or in water, and characters spawned in those situations no longer snap to the ground. Other fixes cover NPC visibility and collision, image visibility in SmartFrames, and cases where Photo Mode could become unresponsive or open before a save finished loading.
CrystalCoat, TwinTone, and character creation
Vehicle customization fixes address inconsistent CrystalCoat textures and colors, a missing Autofixer tutorial explanation, and minor menu issues in CrystalCoat and TwinTone. Character creation fixes include preserving randomizer settings when advancing to Customize Attributes, resolving a Piercing Color availability issue, and correcting other appearance, clipping, interface, and randomizer problems.
Gameplay, interface, and consoles
Miscellaneous fixes cover the Run This Town quest; duplicated or infrequent Johnny passenger appearances; NPC and vehicle behavior during small Night City events; vendor interaction; TV news voiceovers; the Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech description; and a missing “check what’s new” pop-up.

How to interpret the 9.2X performance figure
NVIDIA reported an average performance multiplier of 9.2X for Cyberpunk 2077 on GeForce RTX 50 Series at 4K, with DLSS Multi Frame Generation working alongside DLSS Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction, RT Overdrive enabled, and all settings maxed. This is NVIDIA’s vendor-reported result under those conditions, not an independent benchmark or a prediction for every PC. The reported multiplier is tied to that specific resolution, GPU generation, rendering configuration, and settings.

Can an RTX 40 Series card use DLSS 4 in Cyberpunk 2077?
The patch includes faster single Frame Generation with reduced memory use for RTX 40 and RTX 50 Series, and the named DLSS model choices are available on GeForce RTX cards. Multi Frame Generation, however, is for RTX 50 Series.
What Photo Mode bugs did Patch 2.21 fix?
It fixes issues involving spawned characters, presets, saved pose, camera movement and collision, backgrounds, lighting, the rule-of-thirds grid, controls, NPC visibility, SmartFrames, and Photo Mode becoming unresponsive or opening before a save loaded.
