Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3 was announced on July 16, 2025, and launched July 17 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It is free for owners of the base game; neither Phantom Liberty nor Ultimate Edition is required, and you can continue an existing save. When did Cyberpunk 2077 Update 2.3 come out?
CD PROJEKT RED dated its announcement and patch notes July 16, 2025, and announced the July 17 launch for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Platform timing was not identical in the initial materials: the patch notes described Nintendo Switch 2 availability as coming later, while the publisher announcement said Update 2.3 would arrive July 17 on Switch 2 as well. What does Update 2.3 add?
Four vehicles and new ways to travel
The update adds four vehicles: Yaiba ARV-Q340 Semimaru, Rayfield Caliburn “Mordred,” Yaiba ASM-R250 Muramasa, and Chevillon Legatus 450 Aquila. The first three are tied to side jobs and their prerequisites; the Legatus is listed for purchase through AUTOFIXER. If the Muramasa side job fails, the patch notes say it can later be bought through AUTOFIXER. Official patch notes
AutoDrive lets an owned vehicle travel to a job objective or map pin, or take an unmarked leisurely ride. The vehicle must be on a road, and combat or heavy vehicle damage disables the feature. A cinematic camera can be switched on separately.

Delamain’s driverless taxi service becomes available after completing “Don’t Lose Your Mind,” regardless of the outcome, and receiving Delamain’s message. Then choose “Delamain Cab” in the vehicle-call menu and select a destination.
Rayfield CrystalCoat customization expands to partner-brand vehicles, including motorcycles. The update also adds a cracked CrystalCoat option for lower-end vehicles; some vehicles do not support the technology.

Expanded Photo Mode
Photo Mode gains 27 additional spawnable NPCs, alternate outfits for spawned characters, and the ability to use V’s saved Wardrobe outfits. New controls let you adjust where a character looks, change lighting, manage depth of field, and customize color balance. There are also new stickers and frames, plus a Time and Weather tab with weather, time-of-day, frame-advance, and game-speed controls. Official patch notes
Quality-of-life changes and fixes
Update 2.3 adds an aiming-down-sights toggle, detection for inverted-mouse prompts, and a way to replay the tutorial. It also includes quest and gameplay fixes, HDR-screen improvements, and other miscellaneous corrections. The patch notes list many individual fixes; consult them for the complete change log.

Platform-specific features and compatibility
Several graphics and display features depend on platform, hardware, drivers, or a compatible screen. The patch notes list these PC changes and conditions:
- AMD FSR 4: available for compatible AMD GPUs with a supporting driver.
- AMD FSR 3.1 Frame Generation and Intel XeSS 2.0 with compatible frame generation support.
- HDR10+ Gaming: requires a compatible display.
- DLSS: additional tooltip information.
- VRR: support added on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Do you need to buy anything or start a new save?
No expansion or special edition is required. The official FAQ says Update 2.3 is free for people who own the base game, Phantom Liberty is not required, and Ultimate Edition is not required. You can continue from your existing save; there is no need to start a new game. Players who do not own Cyberpunk 2077 need to purchase the base game to access the update. Official update FAQ
