What’s included in the Switch 2 edition?
The Switch 2 release is Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition, not just the base campaign. It includes both the main game and the Phantom Liberty expansion. CD PROJEKT RED’s launch announcement also said the package included updates released since the announcement. That statement describes the release at that time; it does not establish which updates are currently installed on every copy.

The publisher announced both a physical 64 GB game card and an eShop download. The physical edition runs directly from its card, but that does not eliminate storage needs for future updates or additional language packs.

These are official targets, not a promise that the game stays at the listed frame rate in every scene. Nintendo Life’s 2025 review notes that reaching 40 FPS in docked Performance mode requires a 120 Hz display. That display caveat comes from Nintendo Life; the publisher’s support page specifies the mode targets.
How does it perform in practice?
The available independent assessments are launch-period reviews and tests from 2025, not a fresh evaluation of the 2026 build. Nintendo Life found the conversion impressive for portable play, while pointing out visible compromises compared with more powerful platforms. Digital Foundry’s 2025 technical assessment likewise described mixed results, with Phantom Liberty—particularly the demanding Dogtown area—putting more strain on the system than the main game.

That distinction matters when choosing expectations: a mode target alone does not tell you how every busy scene will feel, and the expansion is not necessarily as easy to run as the base game. These observations should be read as findings from those launch-period assessments, not as a claim that the current 2026 version has been independently retested.
Are the Switch 2 controls a meaningful addition?
The port supports motion controls, gyro aiming, mouse controls and touchscreen features alongside conventional stick controls. In a June 23, 2025 developer feature, Gameplay Technical Design Expert Filip Downar described the team’s approach to platform-specific controls: “The philosophy was to do it but not force it.” The idea was to use these options where they improved play, rather than make them mandatory or confusing.

The feature also quotes Publishing Tech QA Analyst Jakub Smodrzak on the challenge of validating new movement mechanics: “Cyberpunk 2077 is a near-five-year-old game we know inside out, so adding entirely new movement mechanics for the Nintendo Switch 2 version meant there were no existing test cases to fall back on.” For players, the practical takeaway is choice: you can use the Switch-specific input features if they suit you without treating them as the only intended way to play.
What are the storage and battery trade-offs?
CD PROJEKT RED’s Switch 2 support page estimates the game at approximately 59 GB and battery runtime at up to approximately two hours. The runtime is the publisher’s estimate, not an independent measurement, and actual play time can vary with factors such as screen brightness.
- Physical edition: the game runs from the 64 GB card; the publisher says future updates and additional language packs require internal or SD-card storage.
- Digital edition: plan for the publisher’s approximately 59 GB estimate, with extra space potentially needed for updates and language packs.
What does the current patch listing tell us?
When CD PROJEKT RED’s Switch 2 support hub was checked on October 8, 2026, it listed Patch 2.31. The hub links to full patch notes, but the available listing does not establish a Switch 2-specific change that resolves particular performance issues. Treat 2.31 as the version shown on that Switch 2 support hub at that time, not as a claim about the latest version on every platform.
