PC Gamer reported that Epic’s notice gave March 5, 2025 as the date it removed the game from sale, citing a Korean court decision in the dispute between Nexon and Ironmace. The report also said existing owners were told the game would later be removed from their libraries. The sale-removal date and the reported later library removal are separate events; the available Epic support information does not establish the exact library-removal date or current download behavior for every owner. Not necessarily as a general Epic policy. Epic says that when a game is delisted, it can no longer be purchased, but users who already own or claimed it keep it in their libraries. The same policy warns that a game may become unplayable if its online services are discontinued. Epic’s general delisting policy.

That general rule does not settle Dark and Darker’s specific status. Epic’s game-specific support page says updates are unavailable, while the 2025 report described a later library removal notice. Neither source establishes whether a particular account can currently download the game or whether the online service is available to that owner. Check the game’s entry in your Epic library and Epic’s current title-specific support information rather than assuming the general delisting rule guarantees access.
What did the 2026 court ruling decide?
On April 30, 2026, South Korea’s Supreme Court upheld a damages award of 5.76 billion won against Ironmace for trade-secret infringement, according to The Korea Times. The court also agreed with the lower courts that Ironmace did not infringe Nexon’s copyright. The civil ruling came more than a year after Epic’s March 2025 removal from sale, so it should not be described as the cause of that store action. In its response to the ruling, Ironmace characterized the result as clearing copyright concerns and the threat of service suspension. That is the developer’s interpretation, not an Epic announcement that the game would return to the store or an independent assurance that every legal matter was settled. Is the legal dispute over?
The civil case reached a Supreme Court outcome in April 2026, but that does not establish that all proceedings connected to the dispute have concluded. The Asia Business Daily reported on April 30, 2026 that a separate criminal proceeding was expected to begin in June 2026. The current status of that proceeding is not established by the available reporting, so it should not be described as either active or concluded. Has Epic restored the game after the ruling?
No restoration is established by the sources cited here. Epic’s support page continues to describe the game as delisted and says players cannot update it; Ironmace’s reported statement about the court result is not a store relisting notice. Epic’s store listing identifies Dark and Darker as a Windows game developed and published by Ironmace, but an indexed listing alone does not show that it is currently available to buy or download.
