To complete Dark Hearts, accept the Hunt Wish at Bellhart after finishing SEEK: Awaiting the End, destroy any 12 Void Masses, then return to Bellhart’s Wishwall and claim the Mask Shard. Void Masses you destroyed before accepting the wish count toward the objective.
How to unlock Dark Hearts
- Complete the SEEK: Awaiting the End wish.
- At Bellhart, interact with the Wishwall and accept Dark Hearts, a Hunt Wish offered by the residents.
Dark Hearts is an Act 3 quest. Act 3 follows the Snared Silk ending sequence, which comes after completing Silk and Soul and defeating Grand Mother Silk with the Needolin.

How to complete the quest
- Destroy 12 Void Masses anywhere in Pharloom. Any 12 count; there is no requirement to clear a particular region.
- Once the counter reaches 12, return to Bellhart and interact with the Wishwall to collect your reward.
Void Masses are dark mounds of husks and thread. Cut them until they burst. There are 47 listed in standard play and 45 in Steel Soul Mode, so you can choose a route that suits your progress rather than finding every one. The Mask Shard reward is one quarter of a new Life Mask.

Choral Chambers has the highest listed area count, with six; Greymoor and Shellwood each have five. A GameSpot walkthrough suggests The Marrow as a dense option but describes five targets there, while the Hollow Knight Wiki lists four. Because those counts conflict, treat The Marrow as a possible stop rather than relying on a precise count. GameSpot also provides individual location suggestions for Far Fields, Greymoor, Shellwood, and Blasted Steps; consult its route directions as suggestions, not a fully reconciled map.

After destroying the 12th Void Mass, go back to Bellhart and interact with the Wishwall. The quest is not finished until you collect the Mask Shard there.
