What is Sword World 2.5?
Sword World 2.5 is the current edition of Group SNE’s Japanese fantasy tabletop role-playing game. Group SNE first released Sword World in 1989, and ICv2 reports that the series has sold more than 10 million copies. Hitoshi Yasuda, Group SNE’s founder and president, has specified that this crowdfunding project is for Sword World 2.5.

Is Sword World basically Japan’s D&D?
It occupies a similar broad fantasy-RPG space, but the rules are not a Japanese reskin of D&D. Sword World has a distinct resolution system, combat presentation and character-development model. A secondary account from Wukeer says Group SNE’s designers were influenced by Japanese D&D play reports and developed their own system after TSR stopped publishing those reports; that origin story is useful context, but it is not a substitute for Group SNE’s own publication history.

How will Sword World support online play?
The project describes a digital Sword World Nexus home with searchable rules content and interactive character-building tools.
