Yes—on the route and hardware tested, Ishimura Patch substantially reduced Dead Space Remake’s traversal hitches. Wccftech recorded a 176.2% improvement in 0.1% low FPS, but that figure does not mean average performance rose 176%. It describes the slowest frame behavior during a deliberately fast run through one Ishimura section, using an Intel Core i7-14700K and GeForce RTX 4090. Average FPS increased only 4.3%; the large gain came from fewer severe stalls. The mod is an unofficial, Windows-only early beta, so results can vary and it can crash when video memory is exhausted.
Does Ishimura Patch actually fix Dead Space Remake traversal stutter?
It appears to reduce the specific hitches caused when the PC version streams assets as Isaac crosses doors and area boundaries. The headline number belongs to the 0.1% low FPS result, not average FPS. Wccftech used CapFrameX on an intentionally fast, approximately 30-second route selected to provoke traversal streaming hitches. The test system had an Intel Core i7-14700K and GeForce RTX 4090; graphics settings, frame cap and route were held constant between runs.

Wccftech reported that the patched route looked visibly smoother, while warning that hardware, settings and the Ishimura area can change the outcome.
How does the mod reduce the hitches?
According to the developer’s explanation reported by Wccftech, the game can issue hundreds of small GPU-memory allocation requests within a single frame. Repeated allocation and synchronization create overhead precisely when the engine is also loading new assets.

The project’s documentation uses a 33 ms frame-time threshold for a frame that visibly holds the image for more than two refreshes at 60 Hz. That is why frame-time spikes and low-percentile results are more informative here than average FPS alone.
How do I install Ishimura Patch 0.3.10?
Installation uses the files supplied with the current package and does not modify the game’s original files.
- Close Dead Space Remake and open the game’s installation folder, the directory containing
Dead Space.exe. - Extract
ishimurapatch.asi,ishimurapatch.inianddinput8.dlldirectly into that folder. - Launch the game through Steam or the EA App/EA Play as usual.
- Run the same door crossings or fast route that normally triggers a hitch, then compare frame-time behavior rather than relying only on the FPS counter.
The current loader uses dinput8.dll. An older winmm.dll rename workaround is superseded and should not be substituted for the files in version 0.3.10.

What are the mod’s compatibility limits?
- Windows only: the release is not presented as a console or other-platform solution.
- Low video memory: Nexus reports DirectX-error crashes when the GPU runs out of memory, particularly on 8 GB cards at high settings or at high resolutions while other applications are using VRAM.
- Mitigation: lower resolution or texture quality and close programs that consume GPU memory before testing again.

If the game becomes less stable, remove the mod files and retest the unmodified installation. To uninstall, delete ishimurapatch.asi, ishimurapatch.ini and dinput8.dll from the game folder, unless another installed mod depends on that DLL.
How should I interpret the benchmark for my own PC?
Treat the figures as evidence that the mod can improve traversal frame pacing, not as a guaranteed performance multiplier. The test used a very high-end RTX 4090 system, a single route and a short capture. A different GPU, resolution, texture setting, frame cap or Ishimura area can expose different bottlenecks, and the beta may not eliminate every hitch.
For a meaningful before-and-after check, keep the route, graphics settings, frame cap and capture tool identical. Record average FPS together with 1% and 0.1% lows, the largest frame-time spike and the amount of time your tool classifies as stutter. A higher average with unchanged spikes would not address the problem this mod is designed to target.

Is an SSD required for Ishimura Patch?
The 0.3.10 release notes do not state an SSD requirement. They focus instead on GPU memory, graphics settings and conflicts with frame-generation features.
