Yes. Death Stranding Director’s Cut launched on Xbox Series X|S on November 7, 2024—the same day Kojima Productions announced it. It was a surprise arrival of the existing Director’s Cut, not a new sequel. The game is also available through Xbox Game Pass for PC and console Premium and Ultimate subscribers, according to Kojima Productions’ January 21, 2026 announcement.
What launched on Xbox—and when?
Kojima Productions announced that Death Stranding Director’s Cut was available on Xbox Series X|S on November 7, 2024. The announcement and release happened on the same day, making it a surprise launch for Xbox players. The title was the Director’s Cut of the original game, not a newly released sequel. Kojima Productions’ anniversary announcement marked the game’s five-year anniversary; the studio says the original Death Stranding debuted on PlayStation 4 on November 8, 2019.
Which platforms can you play it on?
The November 2024 announcement listed Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and Amazon Luna. Xbox Wire described the Xbox and Windows versions as Xbox Play Anywhere: players who buy the game on one of those platforms can continue on the other. Xbox Wire also highlighted high frame rate, photo mode, ultra-wide monitor support, and the Social Strand System.
Kojima Productions’ launch post said Prime members could access the game on Luna during December 2024, after which Luna+ would be needed. That was a time-limited promotion, not confirmation of current Luna availability. Check Luna’s live catalog for present access.

In its November 7, 2024 announcement, Kojima Productions said the franchise had connected with over 19 million players worldwide.
