Marionberry means Destiny 2 has encountered a problem with your network setup. It does not identify one specific failed device. Start by checking whether Bungie reports a service issue, then cold-reboot your game device and networking equipment. If the error returns, check Wi-Fi stability and connection restrictions such as parental controls before changing advanced router settings.
What does Marionberry mean in Destiny 2?
Bungie says Marionberry indicates a problem with your networking setup. It can appear after a brief Wi-Fi interruption or a change to home-network or console settings. Parental controls may also affect player-to-player connectivity. A router in a bad state, faulty firmware, or failing hardware can contribute to recurring errors, but the code alone does not tell you which component is responsible. Bungie’s Marionberry guidance does not provide a prevalence rate or a guaranteed repair time.

Fix Marionberry in this order
1. Check for a Bungie service issue
Before changing your home network, check Destiny 2 server issues and Bungie’s disconnection guidance for known problems. If there is a wider service issue, router changes on your end may not help.
2. Cold-reboot the game device and network equipment
- Exit Destiny 2, then fully shut down your console or PC.
- Unplug the game device and your networking equipment from power for at least 30 seconds.
- Reconnect and start the modem first. Once it is online, restart the rest of your network equipment and then the console or PC.
- Launch Destiny 2 and check whether the error returns.
This is Bungie’s Marionberry-specific first troubleshooting step. It can clear a temporarily bad state in networking equipment; it does not establish that any device is faulty.

3. Check the connection between your device and router
If the reboot did not resolve the error, look for an unstable link between your console or PC and modem/router. If you play over Wi-Fi, temporarily testing with Ethernet can help distinguish a wireless signal or stability problem from other network issues. 4. Review parental controls and network restrictions
If the error persists, check whether parental controls on your console, router, or network account restrict online or player-to-player connections. Make only changes relevant to the restriction you find; a broad settings reset can create new connectivity problems.

5. Use advanced router settings only if basic checks fail
Bungie’s advanced guide to UPnP, port forwarding, and NAT types covers router configuration. Follow its platform-specific instructions and your router’s documentation rather than applying arbitrary port or firewall changes. If you are unsure what a setting does, consult your router or platform support before changing it.

A one-off error after a Wi-Fi interruption is different from repeated disconnects or multiple error codes. Recurrence can point to a broader connection problem, including router state, firmware, hardware, double NAT, or instability from your internet provider; none is confirmed by Marionberry alone. Review Bungie’s hardware troubleshooting steps and general disconnect guidance. If the connection remains unstable after local checks, contact your ISP or the support team for the affected device. Consider replacing network hardware only if troubleshooting establishes a fault.
