Iron Banner challenges appear only during an active Iron Banner week, and they unlock one day at a time from Tuesday through Friday. Check the Crucible section of the Director, confirm the event is running, and account for the day’s unlock before treating a missing challenge as a bug. Free-to-play accounts also need SMS verification to access Iron Banner.
Check whether Iron Banner is active
Iron Banner is a limited-time event. Bungie says it runs from weekly reset to the next weekly reset, and its June 9, 2026 support guide says it is scheduled every four weeks. When the event is not active, its playlist and weekly challenges are not expected to appear. See Bungie’s Iron Banner guide and the June 2026 support guide for the schedule.
Challenges unlock through the week
The weekly challenges do not all become available when Iron Banner starts. Bungie says they unlock daily from Tuesday through Friday and remain available until the weekly reset. If you are checking before a particular challenge’s release day, seeing fewer than the full set is expected.
Where to find the Iron Banner playlist
While the event is active, open the Director and go to the Crucible section. That is where Bungie places the Iron Banner playlist. If Iron Banner is absent there, first verify the event window and your access requirements rather than assuming the challenge cards themselves are broken.

- Free-to-play account: Bungie’s June 2026 guidance says SMS verification is required for Iron Banner access.
- Matchmade playlists: A platform multiplayer subscription may be required, depending on your platform and account.
Bungie’s older Iron Banner guide includes introductory quest information, but it should not be treated as a complete current access checklist. Use the game’s current prompts and Bungie’s newer support guidance for applicable requirements.
What to try if a challenge is still missing
- Confirm Iron Banner is active and that the challenge’s Tuesday-through-Friday unlock day has passed.
- Open Director → Crucible and look for the Iron Banner playlist.
- Check that free-to-play SMS verification is complete and that your platform account can use matchmade playlists.
- If Lord Saladin is missing from the Tower during the event, return to Orbit, then launch into the Tower again. Bungie recommends this as a way to refresh the vendor’s appearance; it is not documented as a fix for missing challenge cards.
- If the challenge remains absent after these checks, check Bungie’s server and update status and use Bungie Help to report the issue.
Missing challenge or missing reward?
These are different problems. Bungie’s Year 7 Known Issues page, last updated July 2, 2025, listed a fourth weekly challenge that did not award the Iron Banner Memento after completion. That archived note concerns a reward, not a challenge card failing to appear. It does not establish a current general display bug. Read the dated note on Bungie’s Year 7 Known Issues and Vital Information page.
