Which Rite of the Nine weapons are worth keeping? A Sudden Death, Wilderflight, Terminus Horizon, and No Survivors are the strongest starting points in one secondary guide’s ranking, but there is no universally best weapon or Bungie-published god-roll list. This retrospective ranking weighs their likely appeal by role and perk potential; it is not a controlled performance test. Rite of the Nine reward systems were deprecated when Year 8 began on July 15, 2025, so this is a guide to evaluating rolls you already own—not a claim that the event is currently farmable.

How to read this ranking

The 12 weapons are reprised dungeon weapons: Judgment, A Sudden Death, Prosecutor, Relentless, Liminal Vigil, Long Arm, Wilderflight, Terminus Horizon, No Survivors, Cold Comfort, New Pacific Epitaph, and Greasy Luck. The order below adapts a secondary guide’s broad tiers into an editorial, use-case-focused ranking. It is not an official Bungie assessment, and a weapon’s value depends on activity, build, encounter, and the weapons competing for its slot.

The available comparisons do not establish a complete, reliable set of exact barrel, magazine, trait, and masterwork recommendations for every weapon in both PvE and PvP under the October 2026 sandbox. Accordingly, the entries identify priorities and considerations rather than presenting unverified exact rolls as definitive god rolls.

Which Rite of the Nine weapons are highest priority?

1. A Sudden Death

A Sudden Death belongs in the top priority group in the cited secondary guide. Treat it as a strong candidate if its archetype and available roll suit the close-range encounters or PvP situations you actually play. A ranking alone cannot establish that it will outperform another shotgun in every activity, so compare the roll with your preferred alternatives before spending vault space or materials around it.

2. Wilderflight

Wilderflight is also in the guide’s top group. It is worth inspecting when you want a special-ammo option that fits your loadout and activity; whether it earns a slot depends on the encounter and the other weapons competing for that role. The cited comparison does not provide a controlled test or a complete current perk-by-perk verdict.

3. Terminus Horizon

Terminus Horizon rounds out the top group. Consider it when its role and roll complement your build, particularly in PvE loadouts where you want a weapon for a distinct job rather than simply choosing the highest-ranked name. The ranking does not make it a universal choice across PvE and PvP.

4. No Survivors

No Survivors shares the top tier in the secondary guide. Its place here reflects that guide’s broad recommendation, not proof that it is best for every player or sandbox. Keep a roll when its actual perks support your preferred activity and it fills a useful slot in your loadout.

Which weapons belong in the middle tier?

5. Prosecutor

Prosecutor is in the guide’s middle group. It may be a sensible keep if its role suits your activity, but the available evidence does not support elevating it above the top group for every use case or naming one exact roll as best-in-slot.

6. New Pacific Epitaph

New Pacific Epitaph is another middle-tier choice. Evaluate it by the work you need a weapon to do—such as add clear or a particular build interaction—and by which alternatives you have for the same slot. The cited ranking does not establish a universal PvE or PvP winner.

7. Cold Comfort

Cold Comfort is notable for perk combinations highlighted by Destructoid: Envious Arsenal or Reconstruction paired with Bait and Switch or Elemental Honing. These are guide recommendations, not guaranteed best-in-slot choices for every build or sandbox. The source’s examples should not be read as confirmation that all four perks can appear together on a single roll.

When assessing one you own, consider whether the reload loop works for your encounter, whether the damage perk fits how you deal damage, and how long the encounter lasts. Also account for competition from other weapons in your loadout. A roll that suits a long damage phase or a particular build may be less appealing in a different activity.

8. Judgment

Judgment completes the cited middle tier. Keep one if its role and roll serve a clear purpose in your loadout; its placement does not make it a must-have over alternatives you already prefer.

Which weapons are more situational?

9. Liminal Vigil

Liminal Vigil sits in the lower-priority group in the secondary guide. That is a relative ranking, not a claim that it has no use: a role or roll that suits your build can still make it worth keeping.

10. Long Arm

Long Arm is likewise a more situational pick in the cited ranking. Judge it by the activity, weapon slot, and job you need it to perform rather than treating its lower position as a universal verdict.

11. Greasy Luck

Greasy Luck falls into the guide’s lower-priority group. Keep it if its roll fills a gap in your collection or fits a specific loadout; the available comparison does not establish that it is a poor choice in every activity.

12. Relentless

Relentless is the final entry in this editorial ordering, based on the same guide’s lower tier. The ranking is a way to prioritize attention, not a reason to discard a roll that works for a particular encounter or build.

Why preview-era perk claims need caution

On March 13, 2025, Bungie’s Destiny 2 Community Team warned that the early preview showed unfinished content: “Most of what was seen was placeholder: weapon rewards all featured temporary art and fake perk rolls, the user interface is not what we’re planning to ship, and difficulty options don’t have the tuning passes that we’ve planned for Explorer, Eternity, and Ultimatum modes.” Bungie said rolls would be updated before launch. That warning is why preview-era perk combinations should not be treated as confirmation of the final event pool.

Can you still farm Rite of the Nine weapons?

Bungie’s Year 8 notice says Year 8 began on July 15, 2025, and lists Rite of the Nine bounties, missions, quests, engrams, seasonal heirlooms, and artifacts among event items that were deprecated. The notice does not say that every weapon already earned was removed. It distinguishes the discontinued event systems and reward objects from a weapon a player already owns.

The event’s June 2025 schedule is historical, not current farming guidance. Bungie said all three dungeons remained active, with increased rewards rotating among them after June 24: Spire of the Watcher for the week of June 24, Ghosts of the Deep for the week of July 1, and Prophecy for the week of July 8. Increased currency drops for all dungeons were scheduled until June 24, and an increased-reward period was described from July 8 until July 15. Those dates do not establish a present-day route to these weapons.

No newer acquisition route is established here. Check a current official Bungie source or the in-game destinations and reward descriptions before assuming these weapons can be earned again; do not rely on the 2025 rotation as current schedule advice.

How to decide what to keep

  • Start with your activity. A PvE roll and a PvP roll can serve different purposes; this ranking does not collapse those roles into one objectively best choice.
  • Check the job and the build. Consider add clear versus single-target damage, subclass or build synergy, and how the weapon fits the rest of your loadout.
  • Account for usability. Reload behavior and the length of an encounter can change whether a perk combination feels valuable in practice.
  • Compare slot competition. A strong roll can still be a lower priority if another weapon you own fills the same role more effectively for your needs.
  • Use the ranking as a filter, not a command. The cited tier list helps prioritize which weapons to inspect first; it is not a substitute for checking the actual roll and the current activity.

Bungie’s Year 7 known-issues page, last updated July 2, 2025, listed a bug in which Rite of the Nine triumphs did not increase triumph scores. That is a dated record of the issue at that time, not confirmation that it remains unresolved.
