Salvation’s Edge launched on June 7, 2024, at 10 AM PT. For its launch Contest Mode, Bungie said 1965 Power put players at the cap for every encounter. To launch the raid, only the fireteam leader had to complete The Final Shape campaign and the Wild Card Exotic quest; Bungie recommended that every player complete both for the story.

How long did Contest Mode last?
Bungie planned a 48-hour Contest Mode window. Its June 13, 2024 update recorded the actual window as June 7 at 10 AM PT through June 9 at 9:59 AM PT. Bungie’s update documented those times.
What Power did players need for Salvation’s Edge?
For launch Contest Mode, Bungie said players needed 1965 Power to be at the cap through all encounters. That figure describes the launch-era Contest target; it is not verified as the raid’s current Power requirement. Bungie’s May 30, 2024 Contest Mode announcement stated the target.

How did the campaign help players prepare?
Bungie said completing The Final Shape campaign on Legendary awarded a full gear set at 1960 Power—five Power below the Contest cap. It was a launch-era head start toward the Contest target, not a guarantee that a character had reached 1965. Bungie’s campaign preparation guidance described the reward.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Did you need to finish the campaign to start the raid?
At launch, The Final Shape campaign and the Wild Card Exotic quest were prerequisites for launching Salvation’s Edge, but the gate applied only to the fireteam leader. Bungie separately recommended that all players finish both before entering so they could experience the story in sequence. Those are different requirements: the recommendation for every player was not the launch gate for every fireteam member. Bungie’s launch requirements specified the leader rule, while its forum explanation and raid overview explained the story recommendation.

What should the fireteam leader have completed?
- Complete The Final Shape campaign.
- Complete the Wild Card Exotic quest.
That was the launch-era condition Bungie set for the person leading the fireteam to launch the raid. The cited material does not establish the raid’s present-day access rules.
What if you wanted to follow the story in order?
Bungie urged every player to complete the campaign and Wild Card first, whether they planned to enter during Contest Mode or wait for Normal mode. This was guidance for story sequence, distinct from the leader-only launch prerequisite.
