Bungie also documents a selected-perk reset after Update 9.7.0.2, so an equipment check may not explain every case.
Check whether the artifact is equipped
An artifact visible in its submenu is not necessarily equipped on the character. Bungie Help moderators have identified an unequipped artifact as a cause of reports that seasonal artifact selections reset. Look at the character’s active artifact slot: if the icon appears offset in a submenu rather than in that slot, use the artifact’s Equip option.

After equipping it, reopen the artifact and choose the perks you want. Bungie Help recommends this check before treating the symptom as a separate bug.
Restore perks after the Update 9.7.0.2 reset
Bungie’s Destiny 2 Known Issues and Vital Information page says that, as part of a fix for players equipping duplicate artifact perks, all artifacts had their selected perks reset following Update 9.7.0.2. Bungie advises players to reselect perks or apply a loadout with a correctly set-up artifact saved.

- Equip the artifact in the active character slot.
- Open the artifact and select the perks you want, or apply a saved loadout that contains the intended artifact setup.
- Check the artifact again after the next activity or loadout change to identify whether selections are still clearing.
The known-issues page’s Monument of Triumph section was marked last updated July 7, 2026. Because Bungie’s tracked issues can change, check that page for the current status.
Identify which artifact problem you have
“Missing mods” can describe different behaviors. Note whether all selections disappear, a loadout applies unexpected perks, or a perk remains selected but does not produce its listed effect; those symptoms do not necessarily share a cause.

For example, Bungie’s known-issues list has described Debilitating Wave applying Blind, Weaken, and Slow inconsistently, Argent Blade failing to generate armor charges when it is the only equipped perk that can do so, and other named perk effects not working as intended. These are perk-function reports, not proof that an artifact is unequipped.

If the artifact is in the active slot and the issue persists after reselecting perks, record a short video showing what happens and post it to Bungie Help. A Bungie Help moderator requested video evidence for persistent reports; the available guidance does not promise a universal fix.
