Destiny 2: The Final Shape introduced Prismatic, a subclass that lets Guardians combine selected Light and Darkness abilities, and the Dread, a new enemy faction. The expansion launched on June 4, 2024, so these are features of the released expansion—not an upcoming 2026 update.
What is the new subclass in The Final Shape?
The new subclass is Prismatic. Rather than drawing from only one side of Destiny’s powers, it lets Guardians select abilities from Light and Darkness subclasses. Bungie says its options draw from Arc, Solar, Void, Stasis, and Strand, but Prismatic does not make every ability from those subclasses available at once.

Bungie’s Gameplay Team described the goal as enabling new buildcrafting combinations and different kinds of gameplay. The important distinction is that Prismatic is an ability-selection system with its own mechanic, not simply another single-damage-type subclass. Bungie’s Prismatic deep dive explains the design.
How do I mix Light and Darkness?
Prismatic’s selected abilities let players combine powers associated with Light and Darkness. Using both kinds of powers charges Transcendence, a separate state that grants a unique grenade. Bungie’s launch overview also describes temporary weapon-damage bonuses while Transcendence is active; these are official feature descriptions, not a claim about a particular build’s current performance.

Prismatic is distinct from the expansion’s three new class-specific Light Supers. Bungie listed Storm’s Edge for Hunters, Song of Flame for Warlocks, and Twilight Arsenal for Titans, each accompanied by a new Aspect. Those are class additions; they are not the name of the new subclass. See Bungie’s launch overview.
Who are the new enemies, the Dread?
The Dread are a new species born from the Witness’s incursion inside the Traveler. Bungie’s preview recap describes enemies with different ways to disrupt a fight, from suppressing abilities to freezing or repositioning Guardians. Its named examples include:

- Brand New in box. The product ships with all relevant accessories
- Grim: Flying enemies whose screech can suppress Guardian abilities.
- Husk: Melee bruisers that can unleash a Geist after they are destroyed, leaving a further threat to deal with.
- Attendants: Stasis users that freeze targets.
- Weavers: Strand users that pull targets across the battlefield.
Bungie’s recap also discusses Subjugators and Tormentors alongside the expanded enemy force. Tormentors were not first introduced in The Final Shape; the recap places them in the prior context of that force. These descriptions explain the intended combat roles, not independently tested rankings or strategy advice. The enemy details appear in Bungie’s April 9, 2024 gameplay preview recap.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape launched June 4, 2024. Bungie Help lists Standard, The Final Shape + Annual Pass, and Collector’s Edition among the expansion’s purchase editions. That historical edition list does not establish present-day stock, a current listing, or what a Collector’s Edition includes. Bungie’s dated release and edition information is in the The Final Shape Guide.
