To progress efficiently in Roblox’s Devil Hunter, advance your character XP and faction rank stars in parallel: they are separate tracks, and some systems are gated by rank rather than character level. Start with the HQ introductions, then take missions suited to your combat strength and check which specific XP or rank objective each activity advances. Community guides offer this route, but do not establish a single fastest activity or verified XP-per-hour rate.
Character level and rank stars are different
“Leveling up” can mean filling the character XP bar or earning faction rank stars. A June 2026 community guide distinguishes rank from character level and describes rank stars as gates for some systems. Before grinding, identify the requirement for the unlock you want; raising one track may not satisfy the other.

- Complete the HQ introduction. The beginner guide directs new players to Kintoki and then through introductions to the six division captains. Use this opening to learn the available progression paths and begin working toward an initial rank-up. The guide describes different Human and Fiend progressions; follow the route that matches your character. Beginner’s guide.
- Pick up missions and advance rank alongside XP. Take repeatable mission-board tasks you can clear reliably. Community guides describe quests, defeating devils, raids, and world events as XP sources, while missions and captain quest turn-ins are also described as rank progression. Review the active task so you know what the activity contributes. Rank-up overview; Rank-up guide.
- Bundle nearby objectives when it makes sense. A community rank guide recommends grouping mission objectives by location and completing captain quests when they overlap with other tasks. This can reduce unnecessary travel, but it is a routing suggestion—not a measured XP-per-hour advantage.
- Inspect the exact rank requirement if progress stalls. The rank-up guide says some fifth-star requirements involve specific tasks, including kills or event wins. Check the active requirement and do that task instead of repeating unrelated missions.
- Move into later systems as they open. A community progression overview places crafting, contracts or Fiend talents, raids, and optional hybrid transformation after the tutorial and rank progression. Which systems apply depends on your character path and current unlocks; verify their requirements in-game.
Choose activities by what they advance
No reviewed guide supplies an official XP formula, verified reward values, or a reliable comparison of activities by speed. Rather than assuming one activity is universally fastest, choose the one that advances your current goal and that you can complete consistently.
#1 Best Overall
- Devil May Cry 5 Devil Hunter Edition
| Activity | What community guides say it can advance | How to decide |
|---|---|---|
| Quests and captain tasks | Character XP is listed among quest sources; captain quest turn-ins are described as rank progression. A task may overlap with other objectives. Rank-up overview; Rank-up guide. | Prefer tasks that also satisfy an active mission or rank requirement. |
| Mission-board tasks | Repeatable missions are described as a source of rank stars. Rank-up overview. | Take missions your current combat level can handle, and group nearby objectives where practical. |
| Defeating devils | Listed as a character XP source. Rank-up guide. | Use encounters you can clear reliably, especially when kills also satisfy an active requirement. |
| Raids and world events | Listed as character XP sources; event wins may also appear among specific rank tasks. Rank-up guide. | Check whether the event matches your current rank task and whether you can complete it consistently. |
What “fast” means in practice
Without verified reward rates, the useful measure is progress toward your next specific goal—not an unsupported claim that one activity gives the most XP. Before setting out, check four things:
- Track: Does this activity advance character XP, rank stars, or both?
- Overlap: Does it also count toward an active quest or rank requirement?
- Reliability: Can your current build clear it without repeated failures?
- Travel: Can you combine nearby objectives rather than spend time crossing the map?
These checks help you avoid spending a session on XP when the desired unlock actually requires a rank task—or pursuing stars when your immediate goal is character levels.

Keep unlock claims in context
Community guides describe rank stars as requirements for some systems, but the reviewed material does not provide a developer-confirmed list of every current gate. It also does not establish an official XP formula or comparative leveling rates. Treat guide details as pointers, then use the in-game requirement display as the source of truth for your current character and game version.
