Those are different problems: graphics and system checks help local performance, while host, version, firewall, and connection tests help multiplayer issues. DEVOUR supports 1–4 player online co-op, so use the branch that matches what you see.
1. Identify whether the problem is low FPS or multiplayer lag
Watch for where and how the problem appears. If your image looks choppy or stuttering even when you are alone or in a quiet scene, investigate local performance. If your view remains smooth but other players teleport, actions arrive late, or a lobby fails, investigate connectivity. A game can have both issues at once, so note whether the symptom changes when you join or leave a session.
Steam’s general performance guidance explains that reduced FPS can have many causes and that meeting a game’s listed system requirements does not guarantee high FPS. Those requirements are a baseline, not a performance promise. Steam Support’s performance troubleshooting guide
2. Compare your PC with DEVOUR’s requirements
The Windows specifications below are from the DEVOUR Steam listing, accessed October 7, 2026. Check the operating system, processor, memory, graphics card, and free storage on the PC that runs the game. If one component falls below the minimum, reduce graphics load and close other demanding apps before considering hardware changes; an upgrade only helps if it addresses the actual bottleneck.

3. Update graphics and audio drivers
The developer’s pinned troubleshooting post recommends current video and audio drivers for graphics issues, crashing, and loading problems. Update drivers through the relevant PC or component manufacturer’s supported channel, then restart the computer and see whether the same symptom remains. The post is dated February 14, 2022, so treat its advice as a game-specific troubleshooting suggestion rather than a guarantee for every current build. Developer-pinned DEVOUR common bug fixes

4. Reduce graphics settings and resolution
If the game is locally choppy or has low FPS, lower the in-game graphics quality and resolution. This reduces the work required to render each frame, making it a useful diagnostic for rendering load. Change a setting, test the same scene, and compare; improvement suggests graphics load may be part of the problem, while no change points toward another cause. Lower settings are not a universal fix for network delay or every kind of stutter.
5. Test VSync and an FPS limit separately
The developer’s pinned post also lists VSync and an FPS cap as possible graphics troubleshooting steps. Try one at a time, then check the same scene or activity before changing the other. This makes it easier to tell whether a setting changes the visual symptom; do not assume either setting will fix connection problems.

6. Check overclocking if DEVOUR crashes or behaves unstably
If the game crashes or is unstable, the developer says an overclocked GPU—including a factory-overclocked card—can sometimes cause problems in Unity-built games. As a diagnostic, try the GPU at its stock core clock, then check whether the instability changes. This step is aimed at crashes or instability, not a general cure for multiplayer lag.
7. Check the lobby, game version, and connection path
For connection refused errors, trouble connecting, or delayed multiplayer actions, use these checks before changing graphics settings. The developer’s 2022 post recommends restarting Steam, confirming that everyone has the correct game version, trying a different host, checking whether a VPN is interfering, and ensuring the firewall permits DEVOUR.

- Restart Steam and have everyone verify they are running the same current game version.
- Try the session with a different player hosting. If that changes the result, the original host or connection path may be relevant.
- If a VPN is active, test with it disconnected, where safe and permitted by your network or organization.
- Check that the firewall allows DEVOUR. If you temporarily disable firewall or antivirus protection as a diagnostic, restore it immediately afterward and prefer a game-specific allow rule over leaving protection disabled.
These steps can help isolate a session or network-path problem, but the cited post does not establish that each older workaround has been revalidated for the latest game version.

As an advanced, reversible test, the developer’s pinned post says to launch DEVOUR with the argument --disable-nat-punchthrough. It disables NAT punch-through and makes the game fall back to a relay server. The post says this can increase the chance of connecting when relay connectivity is available, at the cost of slightly higher latency. This targets connection setup, not low FPS, and it may not help if a relay cannot be reached.

Add the launch option through Steam’s DEVOUR properties, test whether the session connects, and remove the argument afterward if it does not help or if you want to return to the usual connection method. The command-line advice comes from the developer’s post dated February 14, 2022; the cited material does not confirm its behavior on every later build.
When to contact Steam Support
If the issue persists after the relevant branch’s checks, report the symptom and what you already tried through Steam Support for DEVOUR. Include whether the problem is low FPS or visual stutter, or a lobby/connection issue; for multiplayer problems, note whether changing hosts or testing the relay option changed the result.
