For the ritual puzzle in Diablo 4’s “Poison in the Roots,” light the braziers in this order: left for Ayh, right for Yew, then top for Oun. Pick up the Nangari Blood, walk around the ritual circle’s outer edge, and defeat the enemies that appear.
How to solve the Poison in the Roots brazier puzzle
At the Tree of Whispers, listen to the coven’s incantation: Ayh, Yew, Oun. Repeat that order using the braziers’ positions:

The left and right braziers may appear at the bottom corners of the circle. The important order is left, right, then top; no alternate sequence is established by the walkthroughs from PC Gamer and GamesRadar+.
Complete the ritual
- Listen to the words. The coven recites Ayh, Yew, and Oun in sequence.
- Activate the braziers. Light the left brazier for Ayh, the right for Yew, and the top for Oun.
- Collect the Nangari Blood. Pick up the blood that appears after the correct sequence.
- Trace the circle. Walk along the ritual circle’s outer perimeter. The blood appears around the edge as you follow it; the guides describe no separate interaction prompt for this step.
- Defend the ritual. Defeat the enemies that spawn and try to disrupt the ceremony. When the encounter ends, speak with Gelena or follow the quest’s direction to leave and finish the objective.
Quest context
“Poison in the Roots” is described as part of Diablo 4’s Season of Witchcraft questline, in which you help Gelena and the coven perform a ritual at the Tree of Whispers. The sources establish the puzzle steps, but not the quest’s current access requirements, platform availability, or edition requirements.
