The official sources cited here do not specify the season’s launch hour or regional start schedule. Blizzard’s overview separately lists a July 1, 2025, 12 p.m. PDT refresh for Tejal’s shop; that is the shop’s timing, not confirmation of when the season went live.
What is the Season 9 theme?
Sins of the Horadrim centers on the Horadrim’s secrets and the threat of Astaroth’s return. The seasonal questline sends players to find and cleanse Blood Relics corrupted by Astaroth, amid the consequences of Donan’s past decision to seal the demon.

The quest begins in Cerrigar with Bryona, a Druid. To start “The Embers Yet Smolder,” Blizzard’s guide says players must have completed the base game’s campaign and created a new character on the Seasonal Realm. The story introduces the Horadric Wayfinder for locating Strongrooms and the Horadric Focus in Cerrigar for checking reputation and claiming track rewards.
What new content did Season 9 add?
Horadric Spellcraft
Spellcraft lets players assemble a customized spell from three components: a Catalyst provides its base power, an Infusion changes its elemental damage type, and Arcana add effects. A build can equip one Catalyst, one Infusion, and three Arcana. Catalysts and Infusions unlock through the seasonal questline; Arcana come from Strongrooms. The system is designed to connect spells with character abilities and support different combinations.

Horadric Strongrooms
These short encounters appear inside Nightmare Dungeons. A Strongroom gives players 100 seconds to build Horadric Attunement through combat and Pillar Rituals before a boss encounter. Its final cache scales with the Attunement earned. Completing one also grants a benefit lasting for the rest of that dungeon, such as extra experience, Horadric Favor, Obducite, gold, or Horadric Phials.
Escalating Nightmares and Exalted Astaroth
An Escalation Sigil starts a chain of three Nightmare Dungeons, with affixes accumulating as players advance. At Torment difficulty, finishing the chain transports players to Exalted Astaroth’s lair. Astaroth and his mount, the Amalgam, fight as separate opponents; Astaroth also has a rare chance to drop a Horadric Jewel.

Which features stayed after Season 9?
Blizzard distinguished permanent additions from seasonal systems. The following were made available in both Seasonal and Eternal Realms:
- Horadric Strongrooms and Escalating Nightmares
- New Nightmare Dungeon affixes
- Mouse-and-keyboard support on console
- New class-specific Uniques
The Season 9 questline, Horadric Spellcraft, Horadric Jewels, and Horadric Knowledge reputation were exclusive to the season. This distinction matters for returning players: some endgame activities and quality-of-play additions persisted, while the season’s story and signature progression systems did not.

What rewards did the season include?
Completing Chapter 6 of the Season Journey awarded the Dante the Dog pet. The free Sins of the Horadrim Battle Pass Reliquary included the Eventine Mount, Nightslayer’s Barding Mount Armor, and Door of the Iron Demon Town Portal. Blizzard also offered Premium Reliquaries and a Deluxe Battle Pass bundle as paid in-game options; these rewards were digital content, not physical merchandise.
Patch 2.3.0 also brought native NVIDIA DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation support to PC. That was a graphics feature arriving with the patch, rather than a Season 9-exclusive activity or reward.
