Sony added Silent Hill 2 and Until Dawn to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog on October 21, 2025, for Extra and Premium members. That was ten days before Halloween. The announcement does not confirm that either game is still available in the catalog today.
When the games arrived on PS Plus
Sony announced the October 2025 Game Catalog lineup on October 15, with both PS5 horror games scheduled to become available Tuesday, October 21. The timing made the “in time for Halloween” description accurate for 2025. Sony’s announcement said the catalog lineup was for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers. That was a past catalog addition, not confirmation of a 2026 launch. Sony’s October 30, 2025 Halloween guide still listed both games in the PS5 Game Catalog at that time, but it does not establish their current status. Catalog availability can vary by region, so check the listing in your local PlayStation Store before subscribing or planning to play.
Which PS Plus tiers included them?
The October 2025 announcement included both games in the Game Catalog for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium. It did not identify them as monthly games for every tier. Catalog access is distinct from purchasing a game: the announcement meant eligible subscribers could access the titles while they were included, rather than needing to buy them separately for that access.

What kind of horror game is each one?
Silent Hill 2: psychological horror and exploration
The PS5 remake reimagines Konami’s 2001 game. You play James Sunderland, who returns to the largely deserted town of Silent Hill. Sony’s description highlights the town’s monsters, Pyramid Head, and characters forced to confront their past. Sony’s Game Catalog announcement
The remake uses an over-the-shoulder camera and changes to combat, set pieces, and puzzles, according to the game’s creative director and lead designer, Mateusz Lenart of Bloober Team. It also features a new voice cast rather than the original game’s voices. PlayStation Blog’s May 2024 release article

Until Dawn: branching slasher survival
Until Dawn follows eight friends who return to an isolated mountain lodge a year after two members of their group disappeared. Player choices shape who survives, giving it a different emphasis from Silent Hill 2’s psychological-horror journey.
Developer Ballistic Moon described the PS5 remake as rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5, with updated character models, environments, visual effects, and animations. The studio also cited revised cinematography and camera control, a reworked prologue, new collectibles, and updated accessibility and usability options. These are the developer’s descriptions of the remake, not independent performance findings. The PS5 and PC versions launched October 4, 2024. PlayStation Blog’s announcement
