Yes—Discord now supports buying, wishlisting, and gifting selected in-game cosmetics through its Game Shops. But this is not a universal marketplace for skins from every game. The latest official Discord FAQ available in August 2026 lists Marvel Rivals, Rust, and Bloons TD 6 as supported games, with different platform and account-linking requirements for each.
What Discord Game Shops sell
Game Shops host official digital items supplied by participating game publishers. Depending on the game, the catalog can include costumes, emotes, emojis, MVPs, nameplates, sprays, bundles, building skins, decoration items, and other cosmetics. These are game entitlements—not Discord profile decorations—and are delivered to a linked game account or inventory.

Discord announced the feature on December 2, 2025, initially with Marvel Rivals. Its developer documentation describes Game Shops as a social-commerce system: Discord provides the shopping and payment surface, while the participating game’s systems fulfill the entitlement through account linking.

Which games are supported?
- Marvel Rivals
- Rust
- Bloons TD 6
Discord’s FAQ is not perfectly synchronized: one answer on the same page still mentions only Marvel Rivals and Rust. However, the page’s newer top-level list and its active Bloons TD 6 section support treating all three as available in the August 2026 documentation snapshot. There is no evidence here that Game Shops support Fortnite, Valorant, Counter-Strike, League of Legends, or games generally.
How to buy an in-game item
- Open Discord’s desktop app or web app.
- Select Shop to the right of the server list.
- Select Game Shops at the top.
- Choose a supported game and select an item.
- Review the preview and price, then choose Buy Now.
- Complete checkout and link the relevant game account if Discord asks you to.
You can generally begin a purchase before linking an account, but account linking is required to claim or receive the item. Discord lists the account-connection route as User Settings > Billing > select the purchased item > Connect Account.
To review a purchase, open User Settings > Billing > Transaction History. Prices may appear in local currency where localized pricing is available; otherwise Discord displays U.S. dollars. Prices vary by game, item, bundle, region, currency, and promotion, so Discord should not be assumed to be cheaper than a game’s own store.
How gifting works
- Open a Game Shop and select an item.
- Choose Gift Item.
- Add a custom message.
- Complete payment and send the gift.
The recipient receives the gift through Discord direct messages. They must link the appropriate game account before selecting Open Gift. Gifts can also be started from a friend’s Discord Wishlist, the gift icon in DMs, an item link posted in chat, or a voice channel while streaming a supported game.

- XBOX GIFT CARD: Buy full digital game downloads, game add-ons, in-game currency, memberships, devices, apps, movies, TV shows, and more.
- DIGITAL GAMES: Choose from hundreds of games, from AAA to indie options. Start playing the moment your most anticipated game is available when you pre-order and pre-download it.
- GAME AD-ONS: Extend the experience of your favorite games with add-ons and in-game currency.
- MOVIES & TV SHOWS: Rent or buy new and popular movies and TV shows from a massive library.
- PERFECT GIFT: Great as a gift for a friend or yourself. Xbox Gift Cards are easy to use, never expire, and give the freedom to pick the gift they want. Enjoy more ways to play without a credit card attached to your Microsoft account.
The sender does not necessarily need to play the game. Discord says users can gift items to people who do not yet own or play the title, although the recipient’s account and platform requirements still apply.
Supported platforms and important restrictions
| Game | Redemption platforms | Key limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Marvel Rivals | PC through Steam, Epic, and Loading Bay; Xbox | PlayStation redemption is currently unsupported. An eligible refund may be available if a claim is attempted within 14 days. |
| Rust | PC through Steam | The Rust account may need to be relinked inside the game. |
| Bloons TD 6 | PC through Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store; iOS, Android, Epic iOS, Epic Android, and Amazon | Direct linking through Epic Games Store or Microsoft Store is unsupported; use in-game or web-based linking. |
These restrictions matter most when gifting. For example, do not buy a Marvel Rivals item for a recipient who plays on PlayStation unless Discord has since added support for that platform.
Is the full shop available on mobile?
No. Discord says the complete Game Shop experience is currently available on desktop and the web app. Mobile users may still encounter item listings or purchase-capable embeds, but the full storefront is not available there. If the shop is missing from an iPhone or Android app, that does not necessarily mean the feature is unavailable; try Discord on desktop or in a browser.
What happens if the recipient does not own the game?
It depends on the title. Discord says any Discord user can receive a gift, but claiming it requires a compatible game account.

In Rust, a gifted item can be placed in the recipient’s Steam inventory even if they do not yet own Rust. They can use it after buying the game. For Bloons TD 6, the recipient must create or link a Ninja Kiwi account before claiming the item.
Refunds and common problems
Game Shop purchases are generally non-refundable. Discord may consider a refund when an item cannot be claimed on a supported platform and the user or recipient attempts to claim it within the applicable 14-day claim period. Discord also says a sender may be refunded if the recipient tries to claim an item they already own.
Unsupported platforms, duplicate ownership, and partially owned bundles can block a purchase or redemption. Discord’s broader Shop FAQ also says a bundle cannot be bought at its bundle discount if the buyer already owns one of its included items.

- An Epic Games account is required to redeem an Epic Games Store Card code
- If playing on a console platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch or Mobile) you need to link your Epic Games account to that gaming platform (one time) to redeem your gift card code
- The 16 digit code on the back of the card WILL NOT work if redeemed directly through your gaming platform (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, etc.)
- Note: Nintendo devices do not support Fortnite Shared Wallet, so V-Bucks purchased using your account balance will not show up on your Nintendo device. However, if you purchase items in the web Item Shop — or another platform where you play Fortnite — those items will be available in your Locker across all platforms.

Bloons TD 6 linking
Open Bloons TD 6 and go to Settings > Account > Discord, or the sign-in providers area. Select Link Accounts and authorize Discord through the in-game or web flow. For Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store versions, do not rely on direct store linking; use the supported in-game or web method.

Discord’s FAQ documented a limited Marvel Rivals Orbs experiment for eligible Nitro Standard subscribers. The stated redemption period ran from July 13 through August 13, 2026, with a temporary pause and extension noted in the FAQ. Nitro Basic, trials, and other listed subscription types were excluded. As of the August 16, 2026 documentation snapshot, that window had ended.
This should not be treated as a permanent way to buy skins or as a reason to subscribe to Nitro. Discord’s Nitro page may show current benefits, but the documented Orbs offer was a limited beta experiment.

Those promotions were temporary and should not be read as standard pricing.

Why Discord is adding Game Shops
The feature turns Discord’s communities, profiles, DMs, wishlists, chat links, and voice channels into discovery and gifting surfaces for game items. That is useful for friends who want to give a cosmetic without navigating a separate game store—and for publishers seeking purchases from community members who may not currently play the game.
Discord said its Marvel Rivals pilot found that 41% of purchases were gifts and that 25% of gift buyers were lapsed or non-players. Those are Discord-attributed internal-study figures, not independently audited market statistics.
The trade-off is an additional commerce and account-linking layer. Catalogs can change, availability is game-specific, mobile access is incomplete, and a purchase that works for one platform may be unusable on another.
Recommended Free Tools
What to check before buying
- Confirm that the game appears in Discord’s current Game Shops catalog.
- Verify the recipient’s exact platform, especially for Marvel Rivals.
- Check whether the recipient needs a publisher account or must own the game.
- Compare the checkout price with the game’s official store.
- Remember that purchases are generally non-refundable.
- Use only official Discord and game-account linking flows.
Discord’s Shop is the correct starting point for the current catalog. For official game information, see Rust, Bloons TD 6, and Marvel Rivals.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Discord really does let users buy and gift selected video-game cosmetics, but Game Shops remain a limited, publisher-by-publisher rollout. The feature is most useful for social gifting and discovery; check the game, platform, account-linking rules, price, and refund conditions before paying.
