If it is missing or damaged, repair Windows through Windows Update, DISM, and SFC instead of downloading a replacement DLL.
What this file actually does
dmpushproxy.dll belongs to the Windows device-management and push infrastructure. It sits near other dm* components used by Windows device-management features, including the DMClient and OMA-DM communication used for enterprise policy management.

That relationship does not mean every error is caused by Microsoft Intune, workplace enrollment, or MDM. The same Windows component can be involved in a broader servicing problem, an antivirus quarantine, a damaged update, or a rogue copy placed beside an application.
Known copies are associated with Microsoft Windows and normally reside in protected Windows directories such as:

C:WindowsSysWOW64
System32 contains the normal native system components. SysWOW64 is used for applicable 32-bit components on 64-bit Windows. The exact version, architecture, hash, and file size depend on your Windows build, so there is no single correct value to copy from an Internet listing.
The internal implementation is not fully documented in Microsoft’s user-facing material. It is safer to describe dmpushproxy.dll as part of Windows device-management and push infrastructure than to claim it is a standalone Intune library or a general-purpose application runtime.
Causes by symptom
| What you see | Most likely explanation | Start with |
|---|---|---|
| Windows reports the file is missing during sign-in or startup | Windows component corruption, deletion, or an incomplete update | Windows Update, then DISM and SFC |
| The error began after antivirus cleanup | The file may have been quarantined | Windows Security Protection history |
| It appears during workplace enrollment or policy synchronization | A damaged Windows MDM component or servicing store | DISM/SFC and MDM event logs |
| It appears only when launching one third-party application | The application may be requesting the component incorrectly or loading a local rogue copy | Check the executable and application folder |
| The file exists, but Windows says it is “not designed to run on Windows” | Wrong architecture, damaged contents, invalid signature, or mismatched build | Verify location, signature, and repair Windows |
| It returns after copying a replacement file | The component store or application-local DLL problem remains | Remove the untrusted copy and use Windows servicing |

Fix dmpushproxy.dll safely
1. Install Windows updates and restart
A pending or interrupted update can leave Windows system files and the component store inconsistent. Windows Update is the safest first repair source because it can obtain the correct files for your installed build.
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Windows Update.
- Choose Check for updates.
- Install every available update.
- Restart the computer, even if Windows does not insist.
- Repeat the check after restarting.
Try the action that originally produced the error. If the message remains, run the Windows Update troubleshooter from Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters on Windows 11. On Windows 10, open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters, then select Windows Update.
If updates repeatedly fail, fix Windows servicing before looking for a DLL. A downloaded file does not repair an incomplete component-store transaction.
2. Repair Windows with DISM, then SFC
Microsoft’s recommended order is DISM first and SFC second. DISM repairs the Windows component store, giving System File Checker a usable source from which to restore protected files. Microsoft documents this process in its System File Checker repair guidance.

- Run this command:

- Wait for DISM to finish. Do not close the window because the percentage may pause for a while.
- After DISM completes successfully, run:
sfc /scannow
- Wait until verification reaches 100 percent.
- Restart Windows and test again.
A successful result may say that DISM restored the component store or that SFC found and repaired corrupted files. Reboot before deciding that the repair failed.
If SFC says it found corruption but could not repair everything, restart and run it once more after DISM has completed. If DISM says that source files could not be found, repair Windows Update first or use matching installation media. An administrator can specify a known-good matching source with:

Replace the example path only with a legitimate Windows source matching your edition, language, and build. Do not point DISM at a random DLL or an untrusted download.
Running these commands manually is safe, but it can be difficult to tell which component changed when repairs are repeated. Outbyte PC Repair can scan for the underlying Windows problems and show what needs attention; its repair functions require the full version, while reinstalling or servicing Windows remains the definitive fix for this system component.

3. Check whether antivirus quarantined the file
Security software can remove a genuine system file after a false positive, or malware cleanup can leave Windows incomplete.
For Microsoft Defender:
- Open Start > Settings.
- Select Privacy & security > Windows Security.
- Open Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for a recent event involving
dmpushproxy.dll. - Open the detection and review its location, threat name, and action.
Restore a file only when you have verified that it is a genuine Microsoft-signed copy in the expected Windows directory. Microsoft notes that Defender may detect a restored item again unless it is explicitly allowed. Do not allow or restore a copy obtained from an unknown DLL site.
If the detection concerns an unexpected copy in a game, application directory, Downloads folder, or user-writable location, leave it quarantined and run a full scan:
- Select Scan options in Virus & threat protection.
- Choose Full scan.
- Select Scan now.
- Remove or quarantine confirmed threats.
- Run DISM and SFC afterward.
A file with the correct name can still be malicious. Location, signature, and Windows servicing state matter more than the filename alone.
4. Verify the location and Microsoft signature
If the file exists, check whether Windows is using the legitimate system copy.
Open File Explorer and inspect:
C:WindowsSystem32dmpushproxy.dll
C:WindowsSysWOW64dmpushproxy.dll
Do not assume both locations should contain identical files. On 64-bit Windows, a 32-bit application may use the SysWOW64 variant while a native process uses the System32 variant.
Right-click a copy, select Properties, and open the Digital Signatures tab. A legitimate copy should have a Microsoft signature that Windows reports as valid. Select the signature, choose Details, and confirm that Windows says the digital signature is valid.
Also check for another copy beside the executable named in the error. Windows DLL loading can search an application directory before protected system locations. A rogue application-local copy may therefore take precedence.

Do not delete a suspicious file immediately if it is needed for investigation. First scan it, record its location, and identify the executable that loaded it. Remove or quarantine an invalid application-local copy only after confirming that it is not part of a legitimate application installation. Then repair Windows with DISM and SFC.
If the file exists in a system directory but the message says it is not designed to run on Windows, treat it as damaged or mismatched. Verify the signature and let Windows servicing replace it rather than copying over it manually.
5. Diagnose an application-specific error
If the message appears only when launching one unrelated application or game, note the executable named in the dialog and inspect that program’s installation.
- Close the application.
- Open its official launcher or installer.
- Use its Repair, Verify, or Check files option if available.
- Install the latest version from the developer’s official source.
- Restart Windows and test again.
Do not assume the application owns dmpushproxy.dll. A program can trigger the loader message even when the missing component is part of Windows. If the application has placed a suspicious copy in its own folder, repairing the application and repairing Windows are both necessary.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
There is no verified standalone Microsoft redistributable for dmpushproxy.dll. Reinstalling Visual C++, DirectX, or a game will not normally restore a Windows device-management component unless that specific program’s installer is genuinely responsible for the file.
6. Do not use regsvr32 as a general DLL fix
regsvr32 is for DLLs that provide COM registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer. It is not a generic command for making every missing DLL work.
Do not run this as a routine repair:
regsvr32 dmpushproxy.dll
If the file does not expose the required registration entry point, Windows may report that the entry point was not found. That result does not prove the file is missing or that Windows needs registration. Repair this component through Windows Update, DISM, and SFC instead.
7. Update drivers only when the evidence points there
A graphics, chipset, storage, or network driver is not the normal owner of dmpushproxy.dll. Driver updates are relevant only if the DLL error appeared alongside device failures, crashes, corrupted-display problems, or Device Manager warnings.

- Install drivers from the hardware manufacturer or Windows Update.
- Restart and test again.
Avoid replacing drivers merely because their dates look old. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for stale or mismatched drivers and show which devices need attention; the driver installation feature requires the full version, and it is not a substitute for DISM/SFC when Windows itself is damaged.

If the problem began immediately after an update:
- Open Settings > System > Recovery on Windows 11.
- Open the available recovery options.
- Consider uninstalling the recent quality or feature update.
- Alternatively, use System Restore if a restore point exists from before the failure.
Windows 10 provides similar options under Settings > Update & Security > Recovery.
On Windows 11, Settings > System > Recovery > Fix problems using Windows Update > Reinstall now can reinstall the current Windows version while preserving apps, files, and settings when the option is available.
Use an in-place repair installation when DISM cannot restore the component store, Windows Update remains broken, or multiple protected files fail. Back up important data first and use installation media that matches the installed Windows edition and language.
A clean reinstall is the last resort for a severely damaged or compromised installation. It removes applications and can remove personal data depending on the chosen method, so confirm backups before proceeding.

Is dmpushproxy.dll a virus?
No. The filename identifies a legitimate Microsoft Windows component. However, malware can use the same filename, so a copy in an arbitrary folder or one with an invalid Microsoft signature should be treated as suspicious.
Should I download dmpushproxy.dll separately?
No. There is no verified official standalone Microsoft installer for this file. Random replacement files can contain malware, target the wrong Windows build, use the wrong architecture, or leave the actual component-store problem unfixed.
Is this an Intune or MDM file?
It is associated with Windows device-management and push infrastructure, which also supports the area used by MDM and OMA-DM. That does not prove that Intune caused a particular error.
What if it fails during workplace enrollment?
Open Event Viewer, then go to Applications and Services Logs > Microsoft > Windows > DeviceManagement-Enterprise-Diagnostics-Provider. Review errors at the time of enrollment, then run Windows Update, DISM, and SFC. The DLL message may be a symptom of wider Windows corruption.
What if the file is present but still cannot be loaded?
Check its directory, Microsoft signature, architecture, and whether another copy exists beside the application executable. A damaged or application-local copy can be selected before the genuine system copy. Repair Windows rather than overwriting the file manually.
Will regsvr32 fix it?
Not normally. There is no verified evidence that dmpushproxy.dll is a COM server requiring registration, so regsvr32 is not an appropriate first-line repair.
When should I reinstall Windows?
Use repair installation or System Restore when DISM and SFC cannot repair Windows, the error persists after successful servicing, or several unrelated system files are failing. Reserve a clean reinstall for severe corruption or a compromised system.
