A skeleton can sometimes drop extra XP for eligible naturally spawned equipment, but that is a bonus—not a higher base reward.
How much XP does each mob give?
The Minecraft Wiki’s experience table lists a base reward of 5 XP for both Endermen and skeletons. Microsoft’s Bedrock Enderman entity reference also sets the reward at 5 XP when the last hit is attributed to a player. The comparison is therefore tied on base XP per kill.
The official Enderman value cited here is specifically for Bedrock. The community-maintained experience table supports the general comparison, but these references do not independently verify every current Java and Bedrock release build.
Why can a skeleton sometimes give more?
A skeleton that spawned with eligible equipment can grant an additional 1–3 XP for each qualifying equipment piece, according to the Minecraft Wiki experience table. That variable bonus can make an individual skeleton’s total exceed 5 XP. It does not change the skeleton’s 5 XP base reward.

When does a kill award XP?
The Minecraft Wiki says a mob must die within five seconds of an attack registered as a player hit to drop XP; qualifying attacks by a tamed wolf are also included. For Bedrock Endermen, Microsoft’s entity definition specifies 5 XP for a player-attributed last hit and 0 otherwise. A kill that does not meet the XP attribution condition may therefore award no XP.
Does this mean an Enderman farm is as fast as a skeleton farm?
No conclusion about XP per hour follows from equal XP per qualifying kill. Farm output also depends on spawn rates, the farm design, and how reliably XP reaches the player. Endermen can teleport and become hostile when looked at directly, behaviors Microsoft describes that may matter to farm design, but neither changes their cited base XP reward. The sources cited here do not establish a universally best farm or a current XP-per-hour ranking; any such comparison needs to specify the edition, game version, setup, and measurement method.
