No—breaking the tower alone does not stop outpost spawns. Pillagers can continue spawning around the outpost because the game’s spawning rules are separate from the visible structure. To reduce local spawns, you need to spawn-proof valid spawning locations, using guidance suited to your edition and version.
Why breaking the tower does not stop the spawns
The outpost’s blocks are not an on/off switch for pillager spawning. Mojang’s Bedrock 1.11.0 release notes say that pillagers “will respawn around the tower.” The Minecraft Wiki’s outpost mechanics reference likewise describes recurring spawns around the structure. Removing the tower while leaving valid spawning locations in the recognized outpost area may therefore leave spawns unchanged.
The Bedrock release-note wording dates to 2019, so it establishes the behavior described at launch, not that every coordinate or condition is identical in every current version.
How outpost spawning differs between Java and Bedrock
The spawning locations are not described identically across editions. The Minecraft Wiki mechanics reference gives these edition-specific details; exact mechanics can vary by version.

What to do instead
- Check your edition and game version. Spawn locations and valid-block or light rules can be version-sensitive, so identify whether you play Java or Bedrock before following a precise tutorial.
- Spawn-proof the valid locations. Use in-game blocks or lighting appropriate to your edition and version to make the relevant spawning spots invalid. For Java, consider the described area; for Bedrock, consider the orientation-dependent columns and any relevant outbuildings.
- Judge the result by local outpost spawns. Dismantling visible architecture alone is not a reliable test or fix; the important change is whether valid spawning locations remain.
The mechanics reference does not establish one universal block recipe or placement radius that is guaranteed across current editions and versions. Avoid applying exact coordinates from a tutorial unless it matches your game.
Will this stop every pillager encounter?
No. Outpost spawning is distinct from patrols and raids. Mojang’s Bedrock 1.11.0 notes describe patrols as groups encountered in the Overworld, while its Java Snapshot 18w47b notes discuss outposts alongside pillagers in the wild. Spawn-proofing an outpost can address local outpost spawns, but it does not guarantee that patrols or raid-related pillagers will never appear elsewhere.
