Usually, yes. Ordinary mods disable trophies or achievements on a modded Skyrim Special Edition save. There are two important exceptions: Bethesda says Creation Club content, including Anniversary Edition content, does not disable them; and some Verified Creator Creations can carry a platform-specific friendly label on Xbox or PlayStation. For the newer Creation labels, Bethesda says an updated Creation requires starting a new game.
Which Skyrim content disables trophies?
Bethesda Support’s general rule is that using mods prevents achievements or trophies on that playthrough. Its guidance covers Skyrim Special Edition saves and distinguishes ordinary mods from specific exceptions. Bethesda Support: Why am I not getting achievements/trophies in Skyrim SE?

Bethesda’s current support guidance describes Creation Club items as an exception and says other Creations or mods disable trophies or achievements. Its earlier Creation Club announcement likewise described the curated content as achievement-compatible. The newer Creations system brings legacy mods, Creation Club items, and community Creations into a shared menu, so appearing in that menu does not by itself establish that an item is safe for trophies. What changed for Xbox and PlayStation?
In an August 20, 2026 update, Bethesda Game Studios said Skyrim Creations released through the Verified Creators program can have an optional achievement-friendly designation: “Achievement-Friendly” for Xbox and “Trophy-Friendly” for PlayStation. This is a limited exception, not a blanket exemption for all Verified Creator content, paid content, or mods. Check the individual Creation for the relevant label. Bethesda also says that starting a new game is required for the friendly functionality to work with updated Creations. If you are relying on a newly updated Creation’s flag, do not assume it will make an existing save eligible.
Does the rule apply on PC or Nintendo Switch?
The August 2026 update names Xbox and PlayStation for the new friendly flags; it does not establish that the same feature applies on PC or Switch. Bethesda’s Creations rollout lists PC, Xbox, and PlayStation for Special Edition and Anniversary Edition, while its Anniversary Edition page also lists Nintendo Switch. Those platform listings do not confirm that the 2026 trophy-friendly flag is available on Switch, or establish a different general mod rule there. How to keep a trophy-focused save eligible
- Before enabling content, identify what it is. Distinguish a Creation Club item from other Creations or ordinary mods, and on Xbox or PlayStation check whether the individual Verified Creator Creation has the appropriate Achievement-Friendly or Trophy-Friendly label.
- Use a separate unmodded save or playthrough for trophy progress if you want to use ordinary mods elsewhere. Bethesda’s general guidance says mods prevent trophies or achievements on the modded playthrough.
- If you rely on a newly updated friendly Creation, start a new game. Bethesda says this is required for the friendly functionality to work with updated Creations.
Can you restore trophies after installing mods?
Bethesda Support’s stated recovery method is to disable or remove all installed mods and load a save from before those mods were installed. The guidance does not say that simply disabling mods restores trophy eligibility on the already-modified save. If you have no pre-mod save, the cited support guidance does not offer a way to restore eligibility to that playthrough. Bethesda Support: Why am I not getting achievements/trophies in Skyrim SE?
