Yes. Blizzard lists the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza as a weekly World of Warcraft event, scheduled for Sunday at 14:00 server time in Stranglethorn Vale. The goal is to catch Speckled Tastyfish and be among the first three players on your realm to turn in 40 to Riggle Bassbait in Booty Bay. Blizzard’s event page has the listed schedule and rules.
When and where is the tournament?
Blizzard lists the event for Sunday at 14:00 server time in Stranglethorn Vale. Speckled Tastyfish come from fishing pools around Northern Stranglethorn and the Cape of Stranglethorn. Because the listed start time is server time, check the clock for your realm rather than assuming a local-time start.
How do you enter and win?
- Be in Stranglethorn Vale when the tournament begins and fish the pools around Northern Stranglethorn and the Cape of Stranglethorn for Speckled Tastyfish.
- Collect 40 Speckled Tastyfish.
- Take them to Riggle Bassbait in Booty Bay. The first three players on the realm to make the required turn-in win that week.
The competition is a race: having 40 fish is not enough if three players have already turned theirs in.
What happens if you do not place?
Blizzard says players who miss the top three can sell their Tastyfish to Jang for gold. Rare fish caught during the event can also be exchanged with Fishbot 5000 for additional loot. The listed rewards for placing vary by rank and include the Dread Pirate Ring, Hook of the Master Angler, Boots of the Bay, Arcanite Fishing Pole, and High Test Eternium Fishing Line.

Top-three finishers earn the Master Angler of Azeroth achievement, which Blizzard says counts toward Accomplished Angler and the “Salty” title. The tournament itself does not award a separate title.
Does the event exist in WoW Classic?
Blizzard’s May 1, 2025 announcement for WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Edition Phase 4 includes the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza among the arriving content: WoW Classic 20th Anniversary Edition Phase 4 Now Live. That confirms its inclusion in that edition’s Phase 4 announcement, but does not establish that every WoW edition or Classic variant has the same availability, schedule, or mechanics.
