What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Yes. Each Minecraft Realms subscription covers one Realm, so you need a separate subscription for every additional Realm. That does not mean every player has to pay: invited friends can join the owner’s Realm without buying their own Realms subscription.
One subscription covers one Realm, not multiple Realms
Minecraft’s purchase guide says a Realms or Realms Plus subscription gives access to one Realm. If you want to run two separate Realms, each needs its own subscription. A Realm can include three world slots, however, so those slots do not require three subscriptions: they are worlds associated with the one Realm. Minecraft’s Bedrock Realm purchase guide and its Realms plan page explain the distinction.
Do friends have to pay to join your Realm?
No. The owner pays for the Realm subscription; invited members do not need to buy Realms themselves to play on it. Minecraft’s Realms FAQ confirms this. The number of players who can play simultaneously depends on the plan.
Current Minecraft Realms plans and US prices
Minecraft’s official plan page listed these recurring monthly prices in US dollars when checked on October 8, 2026. The prices are not universal: the applicable region and purchase platform determine the amount charged. Minecraft’s EULA says the relevant purchase page or platform sets the cost.

| Java Realms | $7.99 USD per month | Owner plus 10 other players |
These are Minecraft’s published plan details, not prices guaranteed for every country or storefront. Check the price shown at checkout for your account and platform. On consoles, online multiplayer may also require a separate subscription from that console’s platform provider; Minecraft notes this on its Realms FAQ.
Choose the plan for your Minecraft edition
Java Realms is for Java Edition players, while Bedrock Realms is for Bedrock Edition players. Realms supports cross-play within the same edition, not between Java and Bedrock, so the people joining must use the matching edition. See Minecraft’s Realms overview for edition details.
