Only if the private server is paid. A paid Roblox private server renews monthly in Robux, at a price set by the experience’s creator. Some experiences offer free private servers, and Roblox Plus includes free-server access for supported games under its current terms.
How monthly payment works
Roblox Support says a private server has an initial charge, followed by an automatic monthly charge on the same date each month to keep it active. The charge is deducted from your Robux balance, not presented as one universal cash subscription price. Each experience’s creator sets the server price, so there is no platform-wide rate.
Before buying, open the experience’s Servers section and check the displayed Robux price and subscription agreement. After purchase, use the server’s Configure page to see its renewal date. Roblox Support’s Private / VIP Servers FAQ explains the billing and server settings.
When you can use a private server for free
Not every experience charges for private servers. An experience may offer them for free, although Roblox’s FAQ notes that existing free servers or the active-free-server limit can prevent you from creating another one.

Roblox Plus is a separate membership that includes free private-server access in supported games. Roblox Support says that, effective September 24, 2026, the benefit transitions to one free private server per game. A server you bought separately continues renewing through its original payment method; the Plus benefit does not replace that purchase. Check Roblox Support’s Roblox Plus page for the current benefit terms.
| Option | Cost and availability | Renewal |
|---|---|---|
| Paid private server | Creator-set Robux price; availability and amount vary by experience. | Automatic monthly Robux charge unless canceled before renewal. |
| Free server offered by an experience | No server charge where the experience offers one; limits may apply. | No paid-server renewal charge. |
| Roblox Plus benefit | Free-server access in supported games; from September 24, 2026, one free private server per game under Roblox Support’s stated terms. | Separately purchased servers remain on their original payment method. |
How to stop the next renewal
- Open the experience’s Servers section.
- Open the menu for your private server and choose Cancel. Alternatively, open Configure and turn off the active subscription status.
- Check the displayed expiration date. Roblox says you can use the server through the period already paid for; cancellation prevents a future renewal.
What if you do not have enough Robux?
If your balance is insufficient on the renewal date, the private server expires and you can no longer use it. You can purchase a server again later if you want to restart access.

For details on Premium’s status, see Roblox Support’s Premium Membership page.
