Release order is the simplest route if you want to follow the franchise as players encountered it. This is a practical recommendation, not a claim that each game’s plot depends on the one before it.

Can you start with Sniper Elite: Resistance?
Yes. PlayStation’s official product description introduces Harry Hawker as the lead “for the first time” in a new story set in occupied France, running parallel with Sniper Elite 5. It does not say that players need to know Karl Fairburne’s earlier campaigns first.

Resistance includes a co-op campaign, Axis Invasion, competitive 16-player battles, and Survival for up to four players. Those modes do not impose a different story-order requirement.
Release order or story chronology?
Use the list above as release order, not as a complete chronological timeline. The available official descriptions establish that Resistance runs parallel to Sniper Elite 5 and that V2 takes place in Berlin near the end of World War II, but they do not establish a sourced chronology for every campaign. If you are choosing what to play next, release order avoids implying a precise story sequence that these sources do not verify.

Are the spin-offs required?
No. Rebellion’s catalog also lists Sniper Elite VR and the Nazi Zombie Army games. They are optional related releases, not required steps in the six-game mainline/recent campaign path above.
