Does Dispatch support cross-progression?

That wording is narrower than “cross-progression everywhere.” It covers the supported Xbox destinations named by the Play Anywhere program, including Xbox consoles and Xbox on PC where the title is offered. It does not say that an Xbox save can be imported into Steam or PlayStation, nor that a PlayStation save can move to Xbox.
What Xbox Play Anywhere establishes
The announcement says you can purchase Dispatch once and take progress with you across supported Xbox platforms. Treat that as continuity within the Xbox ecosystem. The announcement does not provide a Steam-to-Xbox migration procedure, a PlayStation-to-Xbox procedure, or a list of every device that will be supported in every region.

Why cloud saving is not the same as cross-progression
A cloud-save feature normally synchronizes selected files through one storefront or account system. Cross-progression requires the game to recognize the same player data across different platform services, builds, and account systems. Dispatch’s Steam Cloud label therefore cannot, by itself, prove that a Steam save will appear on a console. The same distinction applies to any platform that advertises synchronization without explicitly promising cross-storefront transfer.
Does Dispatch have cloud saves?
Yes, Steam’s Dispatch listing includes Steam Cloud. That confirms that the Steam version is presented as supporting Steam’s cloud-storage feature. It does not identify which files are uploaded, how many save slots are covered, or whether those files can be read by console editions.

Consequently, the storefront feature label is enough to say that cloud saving is available in the Steam ecosystem, but not enough to promise that every local setting, profile, screenshot, or save-related file is copied. What happens when you play offline on Steam?
Steam’s general documentation says that a game running in Offline Mode does not synchronize with Steam Cloud until the device is online again. You can therefore have a newer local save waiting to upload, an older cloud copy waiting to download, or a conflict if files changed in more than one location. Offline play and cloud synchronization are separate states: playing without a connection does not make the new save available on another computer immediately.

A safe Steam Cloud habit
Before moving between computers, launch Dispatch while connected and allow Steam to finish any pending synchronization. After an offline session, reconnect before opening the game on another machine. If Steam presents a conflict, stop and compare the timestamps or file locations rather than selecting an option at random; choosing the older copy can overwrite newer local progress.
Can I play Dispatch offline?
On PlayStation 5, the US PlayStation Store listing marks online play as optional and describes a pause function that works during gameplay or cinematics in offline play. That is direct evidence that the PS5 version supports offline use in the circumstances described by the listing.

Those requirements can depend on the platform, the edition, and the state of the installation.
PS5 practical interpretation
If Dispatch is already installed and the PS5 has the necessary license and game data, the listing supports playing without an active online multiplayer connection. You should still connect periodically for updates and, if you use cloud synchronization, to upload or download saves. Offline play should be understood as a gameplay capability, not as a promise that every setup task can be completed with the console permanently disconnected.

Steam practical interpretation
Steam’s documentation allows games to run in Offline Mode, but cloud synchronization waits until you return online. A player who expects to alternate between offline and online computers should reconnect and let synchronization complete before changing devices. Can I transfer my Dispatch save from Steam to PS5 or Xbox?

What should I check before starting Dispatch on a new platform?
A few checks can prevent an avoidable lost-progress problem. They cannot create a transfer feature that has not been announced, but they clarify what your current platform can do.

- Confirm the exact edition and storefront. Check whether you are launching the Steam, Xbox, or PS5 version. A similarly named release on another service should not be presumed to share files.
- Read the current platform listing. Store pages can change. Look for the Steam Cloud label, the Xbox Play Anywhere designation, and the PS5 wording about optional online play.
- Start the first session online. Even where offline play is supported, an online launch gives the platform an opportunity to validate ownership, apply updates, and establish its normal save location. The official listings do not specify which of these steps Dispatch requires, so treat this as a precaution rather than a documented mandate.

- Do not erase the original installation until the new setup is verified. Because cross-storefront transfer is unconfirmed, retain the original device and its local data until you know the new platform has the progress you need.
How should I handle a cloud-save conflict?
Steam Support warns that conflicts can occur when files change in two locations without synchronization. This is most likely after playing offline on one computer and then opening Dispatch elsewhere before the first computer has uploaded its newer files.
Before choosing a conflict option
- Stop launching the game on additional devices.
- Record which device contains the session you most want to keep.
- Check the dates and times shown by Steam’s conflict prompt.
- Prefer the copy that contains the latest intentional progress, not simply the copy offered first.
If the prompt is unclear, preserve the local files and seek platform support before accepting an overwrite. The available Dispatch information does not document a recovery tool or a way to merge two different save histories.

After resolving the conflict
Open Dispatch on the device that should be authoritative, verify the expected progress, exit normally, and reconnect the other device only after synchronization completes. This reduces the chance that an older copy immediately replaces the one you selected.
