What happens when you reset the Xbox app?
Windows describes Reset as returning the selected app to its default state, which may remove app data. This is an app-level action, not the Windows Reset this PC process. Microsoft’s guidance is general to Windows apps; it does not list the Xbox app’s affected data fields or guarantee what happens to particular local or synced saves. Avoid assuming that settings or sign-in details will be preserved—or that a save will be deleted.

Should you use Repair or Reset?

How to repair or reset the Xbox app
- Windows 11: Open Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Find Xbox, open its menu, then choose Advanced options if available.
- Select Repair first and check whether the issue is fixed.
- If Repair is missing or does not help, you can choose Reset. Do so knowing that app data may be removed.
On Windows 10, Microsoft’s guidance uses Settings > Apps > Apps & features, then the app’s Advanced options. Microsoft Support’s repair guidance covers these Windows app controls.
Can you find an app or game again afterward?
If an app or game is no longer installed, check Microsoft Store’s My Library or Order history to find it and download it again. You may need to sign in with the Microsoft account used to obtain it. Visibility and installation can also depend on the item’s regional availability and whether the device is compatible. What this does—and does not—establish about games and saves
The Windows app-reset guidance describes the selected app’s default-state reset; it does not say that resetting the Xbox app erases all files on the PC, uninstalls every game, or deletes cloud saves. It also does not guarantee that a specific local save or sync state is unaffected. The precise Xbox-app data impact is not established by the cited guidance, so treat Reset as a potentially data-removing troubleshooting step rather than a guaranteed safe cleanup.
