Scramble Knights Online does not have one universal save rule. Funktronic Labs wiped character progress from the August 2026 open beta, then promised that progress from the October 2026 demo would carry into Early Access. Early Access began on October 26 with server-side autosaving; a late-October fix addressed autosave timing and level-ups that could be reversed, but it did not promise recovery of progress already lost. The game also changed from its earlier battle-royale direction into a quest-led MMO-lite action RPG, and cross-play, Steam Cloud, Xbox cloud saves and Xbox Play Anywhere do not by themselves prove that a character can move between Steam and Xbox accounts.

What is the current Scramble Knights Online progress rule?
The practical answer is phase-dependent: August open-beta characters are gone, October demo characters were promised to carry over, and Early Access characters are intended to persist through the game’s server saves. Treat the current save system as live and evolving rather than as a guaranteed local backup.

That distinction matters because “my progress” can refer to three different periods. A character made during the open beta was covered by an announced wipe. A character made in the later demo was covered by a separate carryover promise. A character created after the October 26 Early Access launch is governed by the online service’s autosave behavior and any subsequent fixes.
Did the August open beta wipe my character?
Yes. In its August 2026 open-beta announcement, Funktronic Labs answered the question “Will progress carry over to launch?” with: “No, we’ll be doing a full wipe at the end of the open beta.” That statement applies to the open-beta test period, not automatically to every later build.

The beta was not presented as a permanent character-building start. Participants could earn a Beta Cape for Early Access, which is a participation cosmetic rather than a copy of the beta character, inventory, level or crafted equipment. Do not expect an August loadout or character to appear because the game later changed direction.
Why did the wipe happen?
The studio was moving away from a large-lobby battle-royale project and toward a shared-world, quest-led MMO-lite action RPG. That kind of change can alter quests, gear, progression and server data structures. The public announcement establishes the wipe itself; it does not establish a technical migration of battle-royale data into the newer character system.
Does October demo progress carry over to Early Access?
According to Funktronic Labs’ October 2026 demo announcement, yes: “Your demo progress will carry over to the full game! No more wipes!” The promise was specifically about the October demo moving into the full game, including the Early Access launch that followed on October 26.
This later promise supersedes the earlier beta rule only for the later demo period. It should not be read backward as a promise that August open-beta characters were restored. The studio also announced nearly 40,000 playtest participants in the October announcement; that figure is a separate count from its earlier claim of more than 25,000 participants in battle-royale playtests, so the two numbers do not establish a growth rate or a single continuous test population.

What should a returning player expect to see?
A player who completed the October demo should look for the same account or service identity used during that demo when entering Early Access. The carryover announcement does not describe a manual export, a local save-file copy or a storefront-to-storefront transfer. If a demo character is missing, treat it as an account or service support issue rather than assuming that reinstalling the game will recreate it.
What changed when the game left its battle-royale direction?
The current design centers on undertaking quests, earning gems and crafting materials, returning to the Town Square, and improving gear and builds. It is a longer-term character progression loop rather than the previous last-knight-standing battle-royale structure.

The genre change did not eliminate player-versus-player activity. Faction PvP remains optional: an August beta update made world PvP opt-in through factions or particular PvP quests, and the released Steam description likewise presents faction PvP as optional. A player can therefore encounter PvP systems without treating the game as a forced battle royale.
Funktronic Labs described four-player squads and cross-play at launch. Those features explain how people can play together; they do not establish that a character save is shared between different storefront accounts. Multiplayer connectivity and save ownership are separate systems.

How does saving work in Early Access?
The developer’s first post-launch fixes described server autosaves running every few minutes and whenever a player disconnects. That is the clearest public description of where current character progress is stored: on the game’s service, not in a player-accessible save folder.
The same late-October announcement reported a fix for a bug in which level-ups could sometimes be undone. This is a statement about the developer’s patch, not an independently measured failure rate and not a guarantee that every future save problem is impossible. It also does not say that the patch can restore a level, item or quest state that disappeared before the fix.

What is not documented?
- No verified local save-file path or do-it-yourself restoration procedure has been published in the cited announcements.
- No save-failure percentage or recovery statistic has been established.
- The autosave note does not explain every event that triggers a save, how long server retention lasts, or whether every inventory change is written immediately.
Because the game is online and in Early Access, server behavior and patch notes are more relevant than instructions for copying files from a hard drive.
Do Steam and Xbox versions share the same character?
That remains unconfirmed. Steam lists Steam Cloud, while Xbox lists Xbox cloud saves and Xbox Play Anywhere for its Xbox/PC offering. Those are platform features documented separately from the game’s cross-play description; none of the cited listings states that a character created under a Steam account automatically transfers to an Xbox account, or the reverse.

Cross-play means players on supported platforms can play together. Cloud saves mean a platform can synchronize data within its own account ecosystem. Neither label is a promise of cross-store character migration. Do not delete a Steam character or start an Xbox purchase on the assumption that the other platform will recognize it.
How to handle a platform switch
- Confirm which account identity you used for the original demo or Early Access character.
- Check the current account-linking and support instructions published by the developer before launching on the second platform.
- Keep the original installation and platform account intact until the new platform displays the expected character.
- If the character is absent, report the issue through the developer’s current bug-report channel with the platform, account identifier, approximate session time and the last progress you can document.
This cautious approach avoids turning an unverified transfer assumption into an irreversible account decision.

Start by separating a delayed server update from a true rollback. The developer says autosaves run periodically and on disconnect, so reconnecting once and checking the character again may distinguish a temporary service delay from missing data. Do not assume that a missing level or item has been permanently erased until the account has been checked after a clean restart.
- Exit through the game’s normal menu if possible, then relaunch and reconnect to the same platform account.
- Record the character name, platform, approximate time of the last successful session, quest or level reached, and any visible error message.
- Read the latest Funktronic Labs announcement or patch note for a known server or progression issue.
- Use the developer’s identified bug-report channel and include the recorded details. Screenshots, receipts for the game and a short timeline can help support staff identify the account.
- Do not promise yourself that a patch will recover the earlier state. The reported level-up fix addresses the bug going forward; the announcement does not claim restoration of every prior loss.
A local reinstall, deleting platform cloud data or editing an imagined save file cannot be treated as an official recovery method when the character is maintained by the server.

How much of the game is available now?
At the October 26 Early Access launch, the developer described complete one-star quests, optional faction PvP and around five hours of PvE content. Steam’s approximately 40-hour figure refers to a planned version 1.0 scope, not the amount available at launch.
The Early Access listing warns that development is unfinished. Funktronic Labs proposed the Island Odyssey area and two-star quests for December 2026, with three-star quests targeted for the first quarter of 2027. Those are development plans rather than released content or fixed delivery dates, and they do not constitute a new save-reset announcement.

Can I restore a wiped August beta character from the Beta Cape reward?
