Yes. Starfield has Xbox Series X display settings that let you select a 60 FPS target. Bethesda added them in Update 1.11.36 on May 15, 2024. Selecting 60 FPS is a target, not a guarantee that the game will hold a locked 60 FPS in every scene.
What the Xbox Series X settings do
The May 2024 update added display-priority options, frame-rate targets and a VSync toggle for Xbox Series X. Bethesda Support lists targets of 30, 40, 60 or uncapped; the uncapped choice is for displays with VRR. Bethesda recommends Performance when choosing a target of 60 FPS or higher.
| Setting | What it means |
|---|---|
| Visuals | Prioritizes visual quality, according to Bethesda Support. |
| Performance | A display-priority option Bethesda recommends when targeting 60 FPS or above, according to its May 15, 2024 update notes. |
| Frame-rate target | 30, 40, 60 or uncapped on a VRR display, as listed by Bethesda Support. |
| VSync | An option Xbox Series X players can toggle, according to Bethesda’s May 2024 notes. |
Bethesda documents the available settings, but does not promise that selecting a 60 FPS target will produce a locked 60 FPS in every situation. The target setting should therefore be read as the performance goal, not a guaranteed result.
How to set a 60 FPS target
- Open Starfield on Xbox Series X and go to its display settings.
- Choose the Performance display priority. Bethesda recommends this when targeting 60 FPS or higher.
- Set the frame-rate target to 60.
- Adjust VSync if desired. Bethesda confirms the toggle is available but does not specify an effect for each setting in its update notes.
The exact menu labels or navigation path beyond these documented options are not specified in the cited notes, so they may differ with the game’s current interface.

Is 60 FPS support new?
No. Bethesda introduced the Xbox Series X display settings in Update 1.11.36 on May 15, 2024. The game itself launched on September 6, 2023, according to Xbox.
Bethesda’s Free Lanes update notes, published April 7, 2026, are later update context; they do not make the original 60 FPS target a newly announced feature. See the Free Lanes update notes.
