Yes—Xbox 360 owners can still play games they own, and some Xbox 360 games may still support online multiplayer. But the Xbox 360 Store stopped accepting new purchases on July 29, 2024, and multiplayer availability depends on whether each game’s publisher still runs its servers.
What still works on Xbox 360?
The Xbox 360 Store closure ended new purchases through the store on the console and the Xbox 360 Marketplace website. It did not, by itself, end all play on the console or shut down every game’s multiplayer.

Xbox says players can continue playing Xbox 360 games they own. Access and availability can depend on the title and region; Xbox’s Xbox 360 games catalogue notes that new purchases are no longer available through the legacy store.
Can you still play Xbox 360 games online?
Sometimes. Xbox said players could continue connecting with friends through multiplayer in games they purchased, provided the publisher continued supporting that game’s online servers. That is a title-by-title condition, not a guarantee that all Xbox 360 multiplayer servers remain online.

For a particular game, check its publisher’s current status page or support statement. A working Xbox sign-in would not, on its own, establish that the game’s separate multiplayer servers are available.

Microsoft announced that, effective July 29, 2024, it would stop supporting purchases of new games, downloadable content and other entertainment content through the Xbox 360 Store on the console and the Xbox 360 Marketplace website.
