Bethesda says existing digital owners of DOOM (1993) and/or DOOM II on its listed platforms receive the combined release as a free update and keep access to their earlier versions. Everyone else should check their platform store: the official pages cited here do not confirm a universal current $10 price.
What is included in DOOM + DOOM II?
Bethesda’s August 8, 2024 release notes present the two original games together with additional classic campaign content and Legacy of Rust, described as the newest DOOM episode. Bethesda says the episode was created in collaboration with id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames, and features new demons and weapons. Bethesda’s release notes provide the full announcement.
The package also adds modern options that may matter as much as the extra campaign content:
- Cross-platform multiplayer: The Xbox listing describes online co-op and deathmatch for up to 16 players. Xbox product listing
- Mods: An in-game mod browser provides access to mods.
- Soundtracks: Players can choose the original MIDI soundtracks or modern IDKFA versions by Andrew Hulshult.
- Accessibility: The release includes accessibility options.
For Xbox Series X|S and PC, the Xbox listing describes performance of up to 4K resolution and 120 FPS. That is a stated maximum capability for those platforms, not a guarantee for every device, display, or setting.

Who gets the combined release for free?
Bethesda says existing digital owners of DOOM (1993) and/or DOOM II on the listed platforms receive a free update to DOOM + DOOM II and can still access the versions they already owned. The eligible platforms Bethesda lists are Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms. Game Pass is also listed, but requires a subscription.
“Free” therefore applies to qualifying existing digital owners; the announcement does not say that every player can claim the release at no cost. Bethesda Support notes that some eligible users may need to search their platform store to download the new release for free.

How to check your eligibility and current price
- Identify the platform and account where you own DOOM (1993) or DOOM II digitally. Bethesda’s free-update statement applies to existing digital owners on the listed platforms.
- Search that platform’s store for DOOM + DOOM II while signed in to the account that owns the earlier game. Some users may need to find the combined release manually to download it at no cost.
- Check the displayed price and edition before buying. If the store does not show a free update for your account, confirm ownership, platform, and account, then consult the platform’s support or Bethesda Support.
- If you do not qualify, use the store listing for your region. The reviewed official sources do not establish $10 as a current price across platforms or regions.
Is it worth revisiting?
The decision mostly depends on what you want from the package and whether you already own one of the original games. Existing digital owners should first check for the free update. For other players, the strongest reasons to consider it are having both originals together, trying Legacy of Rust and the additional campaign content, or using features such as cross-platform multiplayer, mods, soundtrack choices, and accessibility options. Check the exact platform listing for availability and price before purchasing; the included features and supported performance can vary by platform.
