It brings both classic shooters and a substantial set of expansions together, adds the new Legacy of Rust episode, and supports cross-platform online co-op and deathmatch. The 4K/120 FPS target is not universal: Bethesda lists it for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, while PC performance depends on the video card and display.
What’s included in the enhanced DOOM + DOOM II release?
Bethesda’s August 8, 2024 launch announcement describes one combined package containing both games and a collection of official episodes and expansions:
- DOOM and DOOM II
- Master Levels for DOOM II, TNT: Evilution, The Plutonia Experiment, and No Rest for the Living
- SIGIL and the new episode Legacy of Rust
- A deathmatch map pack
Bethesda says Legacy of Rust was developed with id Software, Nightdive Studios, and MachineGames, and was the first official DOOM episode since DOOM II to introduce new demons and weapons. The 2024 launch map pack added 25 community-created deathmatch maps to 18 existing maps, for 43 deathmatch levels in total, according to Bethesda’s release notes.
SIGIL II joined the package later
Bethesda’s Update 3 notes say SIGIL II became an official part of the package on April 10, 2025. A later April 29 note corrected the music pitch. The original Mods version remained available to subscribers, but saves from that version did not transfer to the official release. See Bethesda’s Update 3 notes.

How to join friends with a room code
- Have the host create an online lobby. Bethesda’s support instructions say a four-letter room code appears in the pre-game lobby.
- Share the code with the other players, who can use it to join the lobby.
- If someone cannot join across platforms, check whether their platform’s system settings have disabled crossplay.
Bethesda explains the code and crossplay setting in its cross-platform play support guide. Local split-screen supports four players on all platforms; Xbox Series X|S and PC support up to eight-player split-screen, per the launch notes.

Which platforms support 4K at 120 FPS?
Bethesda’s platform specifications distinguish console targets from PC performance. A compatible display is required for the listed console modes. These are publisher specifications, not independent benchmark results.
| Platform | Bethesda-stated resolution and frame rate |
|---|---|
| Nintendo Switch | 720p at 60 FPS handheld; 1080p at 60 FPS docked |
| PS4 and Xbox One | 1080p at 60 FPS |
| PS4 Pro and Xbox One X | Native 4K at 60 FPS |
| PS5 and Xbox Series X|S | Native 4K at 120 FPS |
| PC | Up to 120 FPS at 4K, depending on the video card and display |
The figures come from Bethesda’s release notes and FAQ. On PC, the FAQ says the maximum depends on the video card and display, so the stated top end is not a guarantee for every setup.

It gives minimum specifications for 1080p/60 Hz and recommended specifications for 4K/120 Hz; its recommended GPU examples are NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, AMD RX Vega 56, or Intel Arc A 280. These are the publisher’s stated 2024 recommendations, not a guarantee for every PC configuration.
How do mods work, and can you use them on Switch?
Bethesda says players can publish single-player mods on PC and download and play community mods on all platforms. Switch is limited to featured mods curated by id Software, and installing mods requires additional storage. A Bethesda.net account is required for features marked with account footnotes on the product page.

Bethesda recommends using room codes. The update notes identify Vanilla DOOM, DeHackEd, MBF21, and BOOM as supported authoring formats. Details are in Bethesda’s Update 2 notes.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Will existing owners get the enhanced release?
Bethesda said digital owners of DOOM and/or DOOM II on supported platform stores would receive the enhanced combined release as a free update. The FAQ describes digital eligibility and says original versions remain accessible on several PC storefronts. Because eligibility is store- and platform-specific, check the relevant store listing and Bethesda’s FAQ rather than assuming every past purchase qualifies.
Original PC saves are not compatible with the enhanced release. If you need to continue an older save, launch the original version where it is still available.
What accessibility and control options are available?
Bethesda’s accessibility guide lists options for adjusting crosshair presentation, text readability, screen settings, sound levels, field of view, view bobbing, brightness, extra lighting, and automap line thickness. Field of view can be set from 50 to 120. Multiplayer settings include controls for crossplay, voice chat, microphone, and push-to-talk; split-screen orientation can be horizontal or vertical. The release FAQ says controller, keyboard, and mouse are supported across platforms.
