DOOM: The Dark Ages was reported to be launching on May 15, 2025, two days before Xbox officially confirmed that date during its Developer_Direct presentation. The game has since launched on Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5.
What was leaked—and when?
On January 21, 2025, Insider Gaming reported that DOOM: The Dark Ages would launch on May 15. The outlet attributed the date to a Gamekult article that had been removed by the time of its report, and characterized the information as apparently embargoed material published ahead of Xbox Developer_Direct. The original Gamekult article is no longer available through this reporting, so the leak’s provenance is what Insider Gaming reported; the available information does not establish who at Gamekult published it or why it appeared early.

Insider Gaming’s January 21 report
Xbox confirmed May 15 two days later
On January 23, 2025, Xbox’s Developer_Direct recap said id Software had revealed the May 15 launch date. Xbox Wire’s recap describes the game as a cinematic, epic first-person shooter. Bethesda Support also lists May 15, 2025 as the official launch date. The date was therefore no longer just a leak after the presentation.

Platforms and physical editions
Bethesda lists the game for Xbox Series X|S, the Xbox App for Windows PC, Steam, and PlayStation 5. For physical Xbox and PlayStation copies, Bethesda Support says the base game is supplied on a disc, not as a code. That statement concerns the base game; it does not establish that the complete game, updates, or all content are on the disc. Bethesda also notes that a PS5 Digital Edition can install the game when fitted with a disc drive attachment.

Base game and Premium Upgrade
Xbox’s product page lists a Premium Upgrade separately from the base game. The upgrade includes campaign DLC, a digital artbook and soundtrack, and the Divinity Skin Pack. It is an add-on, not another name for the base game.
