Verify Dota 2’s installed files
Exit Dota 2, then in Steam open Library, right-click Dota 2, choose Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files. Steam will check the installation and may reacquire files. Wait for the process and any resulting download to complete, then test the game.

Clear Steam’s download cache
If verification does not help, open Steam > Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache. Steam may ask you to sign in again. Allow queued updates to finish before reopening Dota 2. Steam documents the cache-clearing action in its Clear download cache support page; wording and menu placement can vary between client versions.

Reset launch options and update graphics drivers
Open Dota 2’s Properties in the Steam Library and remove any text in the Launch Options field. Then install the latest driver offered for your graphics hardware from the official NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel support site, or from your PC manufacturer if it supplies the driver for your system. Restart the PC and test again.
Before starting, fully quit and restart Steam; if the error persists, reboot the PC. The steps above are recommended troubleshooting, not confirmed diagnoses or guaranteed fixes.

What the error means—and what it does not prove
A 2022 third-party guide records the message as an error during initialization of the SceneSystem_002 interface. That wording indicates that the game reported a startup or loading failure at that interface. Valve has not provided an explanation in the sources reviewed here, so the message alone does not prove that a particular game asset, shader, network condition, graphics card, or other component is responsible.

Record the complete error text, when it appears, and any recent game updates or changes to launch options, drivers, or configuration. Use that information when contacting Steam Support. A third-party guide also mentions overlays and other local conflicts as possible checks, but the available evidence does not establish them as causes; consider them only after the Steam repair and reset steps.

A 2022 guide suggests manually deleting files named SceneSystem or SceneSystem_002. Because that older third-party advice lacks current official corroboration, do not treat manual file deletion as a routine fix. Use Steam’s verification first, and ask support before removing game files by hand. These reported fixes do not substantiate a need to buy a new PC, GPU, or other hardware.
