Is Among Us free?
It depends on the platform. Innersloth describes Among Us as free to play on Android and iOS, while platforms other than Android and iOS normally require a purchase. The developer’s free-to-play explanation and the US Steam and Epic listings put the Windows price at $4.99 when checked.

- Windows: The native PC edition is normally paid. A legitimate Game Pass subscription may provide access while Among Us remains in the applicable catalog.
- Mobile is not completely free of monetization: The Google Play and App Store listings identify advertising and optional in-app purchases. The US iPhone/iPad listing showed a $1.99 Remove All Ads purchase at the time checked.
- Purchases are optional: Innersloth says cosmetics and Cosmicubes do not affect gameplay.
Therefore, a website promising a completely free Windows copy or unlimited mobile currency is not describing the normal official offer. It may be referring to mobile, an active promotion, Game Pass access, an emulator, or an unauthorized copy.
Download Among Us for Windows
The best route depends on the PC store you already use. Steam and Epic provide a one-time purchase; Xbox may provide either a purchase option or subscription access through PC Game Pass. None of these should be confused with a free, permanent native Windows copy.
Steam
- Install Steam from the official Steam About page or follow Steam’s installation guidance.
- Sign in to a Steam account or create one.
- Open the Among Us store page.
- Select Add to Cart and complete checkout.
- Open Library, select Among Us, and choose Install.
- Choose an installation location, wait for the download to finish, and launch the game from your Steam library.
Steam is a sensible choice if your games, achievements, or Steam Family Sharing setup are already there. The purchase price and regional availability shown by Steam take priority over an old article or third-party download page.
Epic Games Store
- Install the official Epic Games Launcher and sign in to an Epic account.
- Search the Epic Store for Among Us, or open the official Among Us listing.
- Purchase the game, or claim it only if a valid promotion is currently active.
- Open Library.
- Select Among Us, choose an installation directory, and click Install.
- Launch the game after Epic finishes downloading and installing it.
Do not assume that a historical free-game promotion is still active. Epic’s current store page will show the price or claim button available in your region.
Xbox app and PC Game Pass
The Xbox listing identifies Among Us as playable on PC and can show purchase access or PC-only subscription access. If you use PC Game Pass, install the Xbox app on a supported Windows 10 or Windows 11 PC, sign in with the Microsoft account connected to the subscription, find Among Us, and select the install option.
Game Pass is subscription access, not permanent ownership. You lose access if the subscription ends or the game leaves the catalog unless you buy the game separately. Check Microsoft’s current PC Game Pass page for the applicable plan, price, and catalog because those details change.
Download Among Us on Android
- Open the Google Play Store.
- Search for Among Us.
- Verify that the developer is Innersloth LLC.
- Confirm that the official package identifier shown by the listing is
com.innersloth.spacemafia. - Tap Install.
- Open the game and let it complete any update or sign-in process.
- Check the version number in the lower-left corner of the main menu before trying to join friends.
The official Google Play listing showed 500M+ downloads, advertising, and in-app purchases in the US listing. It also showed a May 20, 2026 update date and v17.4.0 in its current update information when checked. Store metadata can change, so the listing itself is the final authority for your device.
If Google Play says the game is unavailable, do not immediately switch to an APK mirror. The device may not meet the current compatibility requirements, may be running an old operating system, or may be affected by region, family controls, or a store-cache problem.

Is there an official Among Us APK?
APK means Android application package. It is the installer format used by Android, including when an app is installed outside the normal Google Play interface. An APK is not a separate official version of Among Us, and it cannot run directly as a native Windows program.
Innersloth’s official download ecosystem directs Android players to Google Play; no clearly identified direct APK download from Innersloth was verified for this guide. For that reason, this article does not provide an unofficial APK download button.
Why unofficial Among Us APKs are risky
Files labeled MOD APK, unlocked APK, unlimited Stars APK, free purchases APK, or hack APK are modified or suspicious distributions, not official editions. They can be outdated, repackaged, incompatible with the current service, or bundled with unwanted software. A listing that uses Innersloth’s name or the correct-looking package identifier is not, by itself, proof that the file came from Innersloth.

Google Play Protect checks apps, including apps installed from outside Google Play, and can warn about, block, or remove harmful software. Google identifies risks associated with sideloaded apps—including malware, spyware, billing fraud, and other harmful behavior—in its explanation of unknown-source applications. Keep Play Protect enabled and never disable it simply because a download site instructs you to do so.
If sideloading is unavoidable because of a legitimate device or regional issue, treat the file as unofficial, not as a safer alternative. Check its source, scan it, avoid modified builds, and expect that it may fail to update or connect. The safest recovery is to remove it and install the official Google Play version.
Download Among Us on iPhone or iPad
- Open the App Store.
- Search for Among Us!.
- Verify that the seller/developer is the official InnerSloth listing.
- Tap Get.
- Authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your Apple Account password if prompted.
- Open the game and install any available update.
- Check the version shown in the lower-left corner of the main menu.
The US App Store listing showed a free download, a listed size of 1.1 GB, and a requirement of iOS 13.0 or later or iPadOS 13.0 or later. It also identifies advertising, messaging/chat, and in-app purchases. The listed size and purchase prices can change.

These are Innersloth’s published compatibility suggestions, not a promise that every computer with the listed parts will perform identically. Use the store launcher’s compatibility information as well, especially on older Windows installations.
Android requirements
Innersloth’s Android documentation contains two layers of guidance. One help article states Android 6.0 or later and at least 2.1 GB of RAM. Its more detailed hardware suggestions describe Snapdragon 450 or equivalent, 2 GB RAM, Cortex A53 or equivalent, and Adreno 506 or equivalent as minimum-style guidance. Recommended hardware includes Snapdragon 855 or equivalent, 6 GB RAM, a Cortex A55/A75-class CPU, and Adreno 640 or equivalent.

Because chipset comparisons do not account for every device, Android version, manufacturer build, or store restriction, use Google Play’s own compatibility result as the practical test. Innersloth also says it cannot guarantee every individual device.
iPhone and iPad requirements
The current US App Store listing requires iOS 13.0 or later and iPadOS 13.0 or later. Innersloth’s compatibility guidance gives the iPhone 6S as a minimum example. Older devices may be unable to install or update the current release.
Can an Android APK be installed on Windows?
There are three different situations that are often incorrectly called a free Windows download:

- Android emulator: An Android environment running the mobile edition inside Windows. This is not the native PC version, and compatibility, controls, performance, and account behavior depend on the specific emulator.
- APK file: An Android installer package. It does not run directly on ordinary Windows without an Android runtime or emulator.
Google Play Games on PC supports selected mobile games rather than every Android app, and Google notes that compatibility labels can change. Check Google’s current Play Games on PC requirements and compatibility guidance instead of assuming that Among Us will run through that service.
If you want the conventional Windows experience, install the native PC edition from Steam, Epic, or Xbox. An emulator should not be advertised as an official free Windows edition.
Why can’t Among Us update or connect?
A successful installation does not guarantee that the build can connect to the current Among Us service. Innersloth announced on June 22, 2026 that 2024 versions were no longer supported and instructed players to update to v17.4.0. According to the compatibility notice, 2023 and earlier versions had already lost connectivity.
Find your installed version in the lower-left corner of the main menu. If it is old, use this recovery sequence:

- If the installation came from an unofficial APK, uninstall it and install the official Google Play listing.
- Check that the version shown in the main menu is compatible with the current release. The supported target identified in Innersloth’s June 22 notice was v17.4.0.
- Confirm that the device meets the current operating-system and hardware guidance.
- Restart the game and verify that the platform account has completed its login.
- Try again using the same server region and a host running the updated version.
An APK can install successfully and still fail because it is stale, modified, built for an incompatible architecture, using a mismatched package, or unable to pass current service checks. Reinstalling the same old APK will not solve that problem.
Among Us is missing from the store
If the game does not appear in Google Play or the App Store, possible causes include an unsupported device, an operating system below the minimum, a different store region, family or parental controls, a stale store listing, or a search result for a fake app. Innersloth says incompatible devices may show the game as unavailable or may be blocked from receiving newer updates.

Open the direct official listing from this article, update the device’s operating system if possible, check the store account and parental-control settings, and restart the store app. Do not use an unrelated downloader merely because it offers an APK.
Only Quick Chat is available
This is usually an account or permission issue rather than a broken download. Among Us attempts to use the active platform profile—such as Google Play, Apple, Steam, Xbox, or another supported account—when the game launches. It normally does not ask you to type an email address directly.

- Check the account-status indicator in the main menu.
- Complete the platform sign-in and resolve any permission prompt.
- For a child account, ask the parent or guardian to review the relevant permission.
- Do not assume reinstalling will remove a legitimate age or account restriction.

Yes. The original Among Us supports cross-platform play between PC, Android, iOS, and console. Innersloth also describes online and local-Wi-Fi games for 4–15 players.
Cross-play still depends on everyone using compatible, updated versions. A stale APK may install but fail to join a current lobby. Account status, parental controls, chat permissions, and platform restrictions can also affect whether a player can communicate or use particular features.

Progress and cosmetics can be linked across PC, Android, iOS, and Xbox through Innersloth’s account-linking system. Use the official account-merging guidance, and choose the correct accounts carefully before purchases or progress are split between profiles. Which version should you choose?
- Choose Android or iOS if the main priority is the lowest upfront cost. Expect ads and optional purchases.
- Choose Steam for the conventional PC edition, Steam achievements, Steam Family Sharing, or an existing Steam library.
- Choose Epic if you already use Epic Games or find a legitimate current promotion.
- Choose Xbox/Game Pass if you already have an eligible subscription and want subscription access instead of buying the PC copy separately.
- Avoid APK mirrors unless there is a legitimate reason you cannot use Google Play and you understand that the file is unofficial, may be outdated, and may be unsafe.

Is Among Us free on Android and iPhone?
Yes, the official Android and iOS downloads are free upfront. Both mobile listings include advertising and optional in-app purchases, so free does not mean completely ad-free.
Is there an official Among Us APK?
