For a sensible starting point, choose the Medium or High preset, then lower Lighting Quality, Volumetric Lighting, Level of Detail, and Post Processing Quality if performance falls short of your target. Keep textures within your graphics card’s available VRAM, test an upscaler if you are GPU-limited, and treat ray tracing as an optional visual cost. The right settings depend on your hardware, resolution, and desired frame rate; 2024 review benchmarks are useful reference points, not measurements of the current game build.
Start with a preset, then tune in a demanding area
Medium or High is a practical baseline rather than a guaranteed best profile. Load an area that puts a sustained workload on your PC and compare changes there, using the same resolution and scene each time. EA documents Low, Medium, High, and Ultra presets, alongside individual graphics controls; most graphics and display changes can be previewed in real time through a UI cutout, according to BioWare’s PC features article.

If the frame rate is below your target, lower costly effects one at a time so you can see their individual impact. PC Gamer’s 2024 analysis recommended starting with these settings:
- Lighting Quality: reduce it if performance needs help.
- Volumetric Lighting: lower it to cut visual workload.
- Level of Detail: reduce it if needed.
- Post Processing Quality: lower it if other changes are insufficient.
Some graphics changes may require a restart, according to PC Gamer’s 2024 analysis. The current behavior was not independently checked, so follow any restart prompt the game displays.

Choose texture quality to fit your VRAM
Texture quality is best treated as a memory-budget choice, not a universal preset recommendation. High-resolution rendering and demanding settings can use more graphics memory; if you encounter hitching, test a lower texture setting and compare. PC Gamer reported that memory limits affected a 6 GB RTX 4050 configuration, especially with frame generation and the Medium preset. Its analysis said 8 GB is generally workable except in combinations such as 4K Ultra. Those observations are specific to the systems and settings it tested in 2024, not a guarantee for every GPU or later game version.
Use upscaling when the GPU is the limit
The PC version supports NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 2.2, Intel XeSS, and dynamic resolution scaling, according to EA’s feature overview. Upscaling renders the game at a lower internal resolution and reconstructs the image for display, trading image quality for performance. Start with a quality-favoring mode, then lower it only if you need more speed. Compare the image in motion as well as when paused: fine detail, shadow edges, and moving objects can reveal artifacts that a static view hides.

The benefit depends on the bottleneck. If the CPU is limiting performance, reducing the rendering workload may not raise frame rate much. PC Gamer reported a CPU-limited case on an RTX 4050 laptop where more aggressive scaling did not improve performance. In a separate 4K/high-quality test configuration, that analysis recorded a change from 31 FPS to 54 FPS after switching to Balanced upscaling; this result is specific to that test, not a forecast for other PCs.
In PC Gamer’s 2024 image-quality comparison, DLSS looked strongest among the tested options; it observed shadow issues with FSR and pixel crawling with stronger XeSS upscaling at 1080p. These are dated observations, not a universal ranking across GPUs, drivers, patches, or later implementations. EA also lists NVIDIA Reflex. Choose the upscaler your hardware supports, and judge the result on your own display.

- Refined bumpers and D-pad. Light but tactile.
Frame Generation is not the same as rendered frame rate
EA documents DLSS 3 Frame Generation for compatible GeForce RTX hardware. Frame Generation inserts generated frames, so distinguish the displayed total from the rate at which the game is rendering frames. Assess responsiveness as well as the FPS counter; NVIDIA promotes Reflex alongside the feature for latency reduction, but no particular improvement is assured on every system. NVIDIA’s 2024 announcement advertised an average 2.5× performance multiplier at 4K on RTX 40-series cards using DLSS 3 Frame Generation and Super Resolution with ray tracing and Ultra settings. That is a vendor-reported figure, not an independent result for every game configuration.
Decide whether ray tracing is worth its cost
The game offers ray-traced reflections and ambient occlusion, including a Selective option, as documented by EA. Ray tracing can improve lighting and reflections, but PC Gamer’s 2024 testing found a substantial performance cost. If frame rate matters most, begin with ray tracing Off or Selective. Enable features one at a time and compare the visual improvement against the performance change on your PC.

One dated reference point: PCGamesN’s November 1, 2024 profile used Selective ray-traced reflections and ambient occlusion while keeping Ultra RT Off. On its stated test machine, turning ray tracing off increased the reported average from 124 to 136 FPS and the 1% low from 70 to 78 FPS. These values are not current-build measurements or universal expectations.

| Setting | PCGamesN’s profile |
|---|---|
| Textures and filtering | High |
| Lighting and volumetrics | High |
| Ray-traced reflections and ambient occlusion | Selective |
| Ultra RT | Off |
| Level of detail, terrain, and effects | High |
| Upscaling | DLSS Quality when using an Nvidia GPU |
| Frame Generation | On |
PCGamesN reported an average of 124 FPS and a 70 FPS 1% low with this profile. Its test system was an Intel Core i7-11700F, Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 12GB, 32GB DDR4-3200, and 64-bit Windows 11. The outlet’s figures describe that 2024 test setup, not a universal result or a measurement of the current build. See its published settings test for the original context.
Keep clarity effects to preference
Depth of field, motion blur, and vignette mainly change presentation. Turn them off if you prefer a sharper, less stylized image, but do not expect a meaningful frame-rate boost: PC Gamer described the performance benefit as tiny or negligible. Its October 28, 2024 graphics-effects feature also notes that bloom cannot be adjusted during normal gameplay.
Set up the display features you actually use
EA documents 21:9 ultrawide support, HDR, uncapped PC frame rates, VSync including fractional-rate VSync, and a field-of-view adjustment. Cinematic Aspect Ratio can be disabled to remove cinematic black bars on ultrawide displays. These are presentation and display options, not automatic performance upgrades; HDR requires a compatible display, and ultrawide support matters only if you use that aspect ratio. EA’s specifications spotlight gives the official PC requirements, including separate configurations for ray tracing On and Off.
For frame-rate comparisons, keep resolution and the tested scene fixed, and change one demanding setting at a time. EA says its requirements distinguish ray tracing On from Off; use the official specifications as a hardware compatibility reference rather than assuming one set of requirements fits both configurations. BioWare reported that 40% of its platform testing effort went to PC and that it performed more than 200,000 hours of performance and compatibility testing before launch. Those developer-reported 2024 figures describe testing effort, not a guarantee of equal performance on every configuration.
